I lived in the upper Midwest all my life until we retired to Florida seven years ago

ahh the memories. I was in high school in southern lower Michigan. We were also snowed in and absolutely crippled by that blizzard. Yet my mom tried to make us go to school! Mom all the schools are closed. The buses arent running. She says if the building is unlocked youre going in. What the what?! ๐Ÿ˜„ when she realized she would never be able to get the car out, her plan was thwarted. That woman. ๐Ÿคช

Re: So You Think Its Been Hot?

@cjm61   I mostly visited toward the end of October.  I went twice in February, the cold didn't bother me, but the snow was another matter.  It was intimidating to drive in that snow.  But honestly I had purchased a heavy jacket rated for below 20, and I didn't feel the need to even zip it up to my neck  Now I wasn't spending hours outside, just out watching my grandchildren ride their sleds down a hill.

I agree about the winter weather lasting forever.  One time it even snowed in October.  I left Florida in the low 80's and woke up to snow coveirng the ground.  That went on until April according to my son.

Perhaps the cold didn't bother me as much because I hadn't been in cold for many years

I wouldn't have loved it so much if I had to get up early for work and deal with the cold every single day for months!

For those who equate the hot weather as similar to the cold, i.e., stay indoors all the time, at least in the cold weather one can dress to go outdoors.  In the heat, not so much!!!

@kaydee50 But you don't have to shovel heat, nor do you have to worry about slipping on heat and breaking a hip. ๐Ÿ˜‰

No snow shoveling, no slipping on sidewalks, for some parts of the country no oil to buy for heat.

Re: So You Think Its Been Hot?

But, hey, I've always heard that it is a dry heat! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ The humidity is what kills me here in Texas! Just walk outside for a 5 minutes and I am drenched in sweat!! Very draining on the energy.
