Kzeks - how great to see you - even if in the shadows. So few of the regular posters have returned - I know we have lost some but others just have not come back. My visiting has slowed down only because I am old and feeble these days. LOL. But I hang in there. Great to have you back! I think most of us started in the 90s - way back when..

Welcome @KonaKat
Hey all, I'm still among the livin'
After the plumber left yesterday I decided to pull out the handy dandy jigsaw and get to working on the cooktop cut out in the counter. That went well, love my jigsaw. These dam* cabinets have walls between the the I don't know even what to call it - tower that includes the cooktop, silverware drawer and cupboard with 2 sliding drawers (pots and pans) and the corner cabinet that has two shelves and some crazy lazy susan thing where I store my cleaners, etc.
Suffice it say and it's hard to describe - the main actual counter was dealt with the jigsaw. There was another layer only in one area that was below where my jigsaw could reach. Hmmm, so I tried a hacksaw (large and small). Now we all know my arms are weak as heck and I really don't what another frozen shoulder episode (had 2 already in my lifetime).
I learned how to use a new type of saw today (for me). I rented a Makita reciprocating saw
and took care of that bizarre layer of cabinet in 20 minutes. The right tool makes all the difference.
So what to do with those walls I mentioned early that also needed some trimmed off the top? I only had 20 minutes experience with the reciprocal saw making a vertical cut so I didn't trust crawling into this cupboard and trying to make a horizontal cut. I had visions of at least 3 things that could go wrong, lol.
I decided to use the good old dremel tool with coarse sanding bands. It takes longer but I can control it better. One more wall to do and then I can focus on connecting the flippen gas.
I can't stand my kitchen looking like it was bombed even though I primarily use it to get from one side of the house to the next so I put the pots, pants and silverware drawers ago each night. I can't handle all those pots and pans on the kitchen table.
Man am I tired and I still ain't done yet. Oh well, one day at a time and I will get there.

I see typos in my last post. I'm so sorry about that. My hands are tired.

So I got some photos off of my phone to better explain what in the heck was going on with my cabinets, lol.
Here's a photo of the reciprocating saw. Love Makita products.
As you can see to the right of the saw.... my whitish cooktop has been enlarged by the jigsaw. You'll see a tannish colored piece of some kind of wood, lol, immediately to the right of the countertop edge. This thing and a couple of smaller pieces around the perimeter of the countertop had to be removed because the new cooktop would not set all the way into the opening.
You can also see the cabinet section walls that I was talking about to the right of the tannish colored piece of wood that I need to get out.
Where the first picture with the saw was top down, here's a picture of what I'm talking about from the side.
Whitish counter - enlarged with jigsaw
Tannish layer of wood - removed with reciprocating saw
The cabinet walls (look above rails that drawers slide on) - lowering slowly but surely with a dremel tool.

I just installed the window bird feeder. The reviews on this were great, but this was not included in the item description. "Be patient. It may take up to five weeks for birds to become used to the feeder." Anyone who knows me knows I want things to happen before scheduled. Never late for anything!

@KonaKat What kind of window bird feeder did you get? I always worry about birds crashing into my windows. I put static cling decals on my kitchen window and my glass storm door and they young sparrows still sometime bump my glass storm door.
