@Regal Bee   I was in Publix this past Wednesday around lunchtime. The store was packed and lines were backed up. I said to the checkout lady that from the looks of things one would think it was the day before Thanksgiving. She agreed.

I'm going to the mall this morning and from there on to World Market and maybe a tile store. The gasoline prices are so low in Georgia now that I'm even afraid to buy gas!

@50Mickeyat Kroger the gas was 2.78 in my area a few days ago so I filled up, plus I had 20 cents off per gallon.

@ECBG   I'm getting emails daily w/ as much as 60% off in stores and online. So, if they're "doing well", why do they have such a large discount these last few weeks? They were either overcharging from the start or now overstocked and cannot sell all the merchandise.

I still shop online where there are free returns whenever possible.

Stores are scrambling to make their year right now.

We've heard all over the board about the increase in prices everyone is trying to deal with which in turn causes other items like a car down to a shirt less likely to happen.

In trying to make their bottom line, they're even cutting hours and not hiring when someone quits.

In our Dillards, there are never more than 2 associates on the floor in all of the second floor.

@ECBG   So true. IF I'm lucky enough to find something to purchase in store, it may take 20 minutes to 1/2 hr. to find a sales associate to ring it up. Sizes, colors, makeup shades are so much easier to find online. I put it in the cart and checkout....5 minutes and finished.

The stores where I live are very busy and have been for weeks---looks like full shelves too--I try very hard not to go in them, not a fan of crowds anymore.

Are you speaking of Dillards or another store?

Our Belk is terrible since they sold almost 7 years ago.  Severe hanger fatigue. I don't know about Kohls, but they have the "Kohl's cash" which is a hook to bring people back.

We have Chicos and Talbots.  Soft Surroundings, Chapter 11, online only.  That's our retail for lady's (Mall and Biltmore Village) unless you count boutiques.

The outlets are doing well.  They're covered with security,  offer variety, are very attractive, and offer most items, just not bridal.

Wow, @Shanus  I've heard about theft in the country going on.  Sorry to hear you are in it. Better to order online. Thats how I do my makeup as I'm not interested in the mall these days even though they are nice.

I have all the clothing I need for now. lol.

@ECBG    Our Belk's is awful...not enogh help to refresh racks, put things back in size order and everything's hanging off the racks.

I'm seeing most shoppers at discount stores and our big outlet mall. Marshall's, TJ Maxx and Costco are always busy...throughout the year. Our Soft Surroundings left the mall and also other stores that close and other ones for "kids" open there instead and then they go out, as well.Chico's moved out of the mall and across the street in the unknown strip and is a "discount Chico" store. We do have Talbot's in the mall, but minimal help there, too.

It's projected that 182 million people will shop for the Holidays on line, in person or both between Thanksgiving Day and Cyber Monday!

That's almost 16 million more than last year and the highest level since 2017.

Deals and Discount opportunities are driving a large percentage of the shopping,  yet retailers will still see record levels of total sales revenue.

Back in 1981 I made a vow never to enter a retail store between Thanksgivingk and New Year. Back then it was catalogue sales and now it's online.. I can count on one hand the amount of ltimes I've broken that vow except for food stores.
