Re: *SNOW* in Baton Rouge, LA???

@Tinkrbl44.  In Houston, I worked on the second floor of a large windowless office building.  On the rare occasion that it snowed, we adults spent the day running down the back stairs to look out the door.  I have a photo of a half dozen of us with snowballs.

@JoyFilled Warrior : Thank you. Our snow to continue until 10 p.m. Our street and driveway now covered.

We had soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner. We are in our recliners . DH hot natured. I'm covered with 3 blankets. Now wishing we have a coffee bar in the den instead of the kitchen!

Praying for you and everyone to stay safe and warm.🤗❤❤🙏🙏

Re: *SNOW* in Baton Rouge, LA???

@beach-mom  and all, it snowed ALL DAY in NOLA until about 5:30pm.  So we have about 8 inches or more in the metro area.  This is so unheard of - the last time this amount of snow fell here was in 1895!  Quite a day, and now we will continue to have below freezing temps for the next few days.  Most things will stay closed tomorrow because they want everyone to stay off of the roads due to icing.  Snow plows from Indiana will be working on our roads.

I didn't venture past my open doorways because I didn't want to risk any broken bones at my age.  Rolled my disabled son to the various doors in the house and opened each one so he could get a first hand view and get to scoop up some snow in his hands.  What a day!

@shoesnbags - How great that your son, who has lived in Louisiana, got to feel snow!  He will always be able to say he saw it snow there!

As soon as I got in my car shortly after noon, I tried to call DS. Of course he didn't answer, but I wasn't worried yet. What I'm concerned about is the power, and heat, going out. He doesn't have much insulation in his apartment, which is actually half of an older shotgun. Part of me wasn't surprised he would take his camera out, but he wandered about two miles away. When he headed back he hit blinding snow and couldn't see to walk. At least he made it home (of course I called!)! He's off work until Friday.

@shoesnbags : So exciting for your son to see and feel the snow.

I have a bad back and use a walker and was very slow and careful when I opened the front door to take photos.

Stay safe and warm.

@beach-mom

I think the power should be ok.  Originally we were supposed to have a wet mix, which would have been a risk for power lines.  But it turned out to be lots of snow and only snow so the power should be ok.  The authorities have mentioned concerns about water pressure due to everyone having to let their faucets drip, but so far that's ok too.  I'll bet your son had a great time today.

@SouthernBeeI definitely understand.  I don't have any disabilities, but at 75 I know that my bones would take a long time to heal from a break.  Also, I lived in Ohio for a few years when I was younger and I know how easy it is to slip and fall when snow and ice are in the picture.  I took lots of pictures from my various doors, and neighbors texted me pictures of the outside of my house.  That was enough excitement for me ha ha.

@shoesnbags : I am worn out too much excitement. It has been 8 years since my area had any snow. Received a lot of text and emails with photos.
