Hi @Shanus ![]()
I didnt know exactly where to put this topic, since QChat doesnt offer "EYES" as a Forum...
@Shanus How ya doing? Incl, with your New Eyes?
I LOVE LOVE mine! Altho I was fearful!! It worked out wonderfully.
I was SHOCKED what I *really* looked like (face/hands) I mean REALLY Shocked! Depressed, in fact. That's when I decided to change my nick from ~MakeUp Maiden, after my cataract surgery, & finally got a GOOD look at myself!! SHOCKER! I think i grew older by 20-30 years in that month, after fixed eyes! heh
And I thought my home was immaculate. It wasnt then, now that I can see. Is now.
I must have been blind'ed for a longggg time.
What surprised me is, after Cataract Surgery, I STILL have to wear glasses. One for Close up. One for reading. jeppers!
So, how are you doing with your new eyes?? You'll probably be able to see like you never have before, this coming Combo Christmas/Hanukkah! (incl the ham heh)
How did your Op go? I had anesthesia too. How's your vision now? Drops? Recovery?

Hello @JoyFilled Warrior . Anytime I see @Shanus I usually find a notification no matter where it's posted. Thanks for checking in on me.
My eyes were not too awful...cataract wise. My eye doc never "caught" it, but when DH had both eyes done in Dec., I changed to his doc who saw it immediately and suggested the surgery before it got bad. So, not much difference in sight, but so far (2nd eye only done Thurs. lights seem too bright...my closet has fluorescent lighting on the ceiling and when I go in there, it feels like a "7 Eleven"!!! Lol
Yes, lots of drops. I had the eyes done a week apart because the surgeon was going away for the holidays. Beige top drops in new eye only and pink top in both for a month. I have a plastic shield to tape over my "Thurday eye" when I sleep and I've pulled out a few brow hairs with that blue tape in my kit they sent me home with along with giant dark sunglasses that of course fall down my nose and I have to hold them on...so haven't driven...and anesthesia still had me a bit loopy until yesterday.
DH has been a life saver doing the food shopping, making pasta for dinners (can't cook anything else except scrambled eggs. He washed my hair yesterday with my head backwards in laundry room sink. Hurt sitting on stool and reclining that way, but feels so good to have clean hair.
Big issue is readers/bifocals anything to stay on my tiny face so I can read. I need nose pads and drugstore readers are without them. Distance seems almost fine.
I don't see a big difference in how I look...maybe because I didn't wait long to have it done. In fact, I was shocked when doc said I had cataracts. I can see more chin hairs, though. Got those out first thing. The rest of my face and hands look the same. I cannot do skincare yet and difficult to remember not to rub my eyes...no makeup yet either, but haven't gone out and will stay in next week and paint.
The biggie is that my hairdresser "fired" me because I had to cancel my appt. before the holidays and it threw her off because she had turned down clients in that spot...long appt. for lowlights, cut, deep conditioning, etc. How cruel and I need to find another hair person at the holidays? Won't happen. I did get an appt.w/ my formr hairdresser who's first opening was Jan.11th. Oh well, I can trim my bangs and deal with some white roots...ColorWow powder.
So, I'm awake early looking for something on Netflix and DH is still asleep for another hour. He just purchased a new coffee maker with brewed on one side and pods on the other...haven't learned to use it yet and dying for some coffee!!!
Long post, but wanted to try to answer your questions and give you an update. So sweet for you to check up on me.

What about the current thread you started 12/2 in beauty tittled "BIG NEWS: I COLORED MY GREY HAIR!!!"? You told us all about your hair appointment the week before Thanksgiving. @Shanus

Oh wow, @Shanus ![]()
Im so happy for ya.
I waited too long for my surgery. My vision always had been bad, in spite of glasses, since childhood. Then constantly changing, like day by day, literally, so eventually Tri focals never really worked, but moment-to-moment. Then suddenly, last year, BOOM! I lost most all vision, both eyes. I took myself off the road, it was so bad.
I saw that Fonzie "Age-Related Macular Degeneration" Commercial which shook me up so I jumped on an Eye Surg Appt.
My 2 eyes were done about 1+ mo apart. Maybe I would have preferred closer? Fortunately, the Eye Doc had Daily, Blocked Charts for me to check off which drops on which day, & which eye! Otherwise, I would have been as confused as "trying to pat my head, & rub my belly, at the same time!" (remember that joke exercise? heh)
My neighbor advised me that after Surgery I might have to continue wearing sunglasses outdoors, for a long time, to shield my eyes from a sun that's too bright. I havent found that to be true, so far. But sounds like brightness has an effect on you, so far.
Hubby sounds like a 'Keeper," @Shanus ![]()
I know it's Holidays, & you're busy, busy, busy.
If you can, & think of it, wld you keep us informed abt how ya doing? You have a lot of ppl cheering & pulling for ya! (incl me) ![]()

@persiflage Yes, Jan. 11th appt. w/ former stylist/hairdresser whatever they're called now. He'll pick up where other one left off...lowlights in medium brown added to my grey hair to have darker hair with fine grey pieces still showing to allow for slower regrowth. I'm touching up with dark brown ColorWow powder until my new appt.
The appointment was 11/20 and the color had faded to a light brown 2-3 weeks later. I just have to wait to see what my former stylist wants to do: bleach it all out and start over or redo the lowlights.
Not sure if I adressed your question.

@JoyFilled Warrior Great to hear from you. Are you the one who changed your nic here?
Anyway, sorry to hear of your frightening experience w/ your eyes and happy it's been resolved w/ surgery....Yes, drops and big black sunglasses they included in my kit.
My "readers" arrived from Amazon yesterday and getting used to those...no RX on top and readers on bottom (2.50). I get my RX for my new regular glasses in 3-4 wks. and then go through the usual dilema of finding frames for my small face, low bridge, tiny nose and high cheekbones....always an impossible task. I may go to optical shops this weekend and look for frames and have them purchased before I receive the RX. It may take that long.
DH had made a chart when his eyes were done earlier this year and made a copy for mine...very professional looking since it crosses over to other eye where drops overlap to eliminate one of the drops and continue one of them for the month in both eyes. Add the plastic shield taped to my eye (first right eye and now left) to sleep, pulling it off in the morning and taking some skin with it (lol) and I'm all good and recovered!!!
