Does anyone else feel that return costs are getting higher all the time?  I just returned something last week ( To HSN ) and checked today to see the refund status. It was almost $8 for a light weight small item.  Im getting to the point of disliking ordering anything from any shopping channel due to return costs if it needs to be sent back!

Unless it is something heavy I use my own label from usps it's much cheaper.

I too have noticed, so the last two packages (one yesterday), I have taken to the post office and sent regular mail. It includes a tracking number.

The cost for both were a total of $4.00 savings compared to if I had sent it back postage pre-pay.

I "think" the reason for the price hike, is due to the up front cost may be as low as $3.00; but in the return they make up for the UPS and postal cost that may not have been charged up front.

Some may be shipped UPS than end up being delivered to the post office by UPS and delivered to the customer by USPS.

It always says to use the return label so I do  Smiley Sad

So you can just go to the PO and send like you would any other package?  It would be less for sure!

@CherryHugs

They push using that return label because it's a profit maker for QVC.

I never use their label, it's usually cheaper on my own and the return/refund is much, much quicker!

I go to the post office everyday for work, so it is no trouble for me to return items.  Often I will package up the item, and bring the QVC return label, and one that I made on my own.  I have the post office weigh it and tell me what the cheapest way would cost. If it is cheaper to go on my own, I put my own label on.  If it is more than $6.95, I put the QVC return label on.

If I have more than one thing to return, I send them back together to save on return shipping.

I haven't had a return in years, but I usually found that it would cost less to just pay my own postage/shipping to return something.

There are a couple of caveats to that, however -

1)   You do have to watch your account because sometimes they will charge the return label postage against your account anyway; and

2)  It could cost less to use their label in the case of something that has higher (let's say $100+) value, as they self-insure and you would have to pay extra to buy your own insurance if you use your own postage.

All their prices are going up.  I searched for capris/pedal pusher (petite) yesterday and see they no longer carry the item #'s I have purchased for years and there is a new item at $44, they are 5 pocket and ugly.   Are you kidding me. They were previously priced at $22-$29.  They may have had other and may get others but I don't have time to check constantly to see if something has come in that I am looking for.   Pants are the only item I have had to purchase here  as they were a good value and fit for me.  I will be shopping for summer pants elsewhere this year.

I almost always use the QVC return label.  The 2 Post Offices in my area have lines that are often OUT THE DOOR!  You could easily wait for 20 minutes to get a package weighed.  I don't have the patience for that. Soooo, the bottom line is that I order a lot less due to the cost of returns when you use the QVC label.
