My friend that lost her husband late last year is dealing with liquidating his collection(s), one of his collections has been sold, she is now trying to work on the other collection that he had...I hate to say what the collection is for privacy reasons.
They have been in touch with a friend in that area of expertise but he lives a long way away and getting him to our area is difficult because of schedules. I thought possibly an auction with a reserve...selling everything in one single sale...there is way to much to sell items separately......any other thoughts? Thanks
Estate sales are very big in my area. Not garage sales...estate sales. A company comes in, look over what you have/what you want to sell and they will handle it all. For a price, of course. Usually get a percentage of what was sold. I'd suggest she do a little research before calling a company like this, get and idea of what things could be worth.

@depglass---I have some depression glass that I would like to sell. How do you suggest I do that? I live near Seattle.

Sometimes an estate sale will box up your stuff and take it to a mega estate sale at another site. She might look into that. I feel sorry for anyone with a lot of this stuff to try to unload. It is sometimes a bitter disappointment.

Her husband probably had friends he shared his interests with. I know my husband enjoys collecting a couple of different things and he too has amassed quite a collection. If something were to happen I would first tap his friends who share his interest for the best possible locations to sell these items. She needs to educate herself as to there value and often contacts are interested is specific items. Usually a collector has chosen the best pieces and in my case I would not worry about someone "cherry picking" items as each item has its own value.

@kitty60....the person that offered to help lives many states away, which is causing the problem, the collection is huge and educating her self on each and every piece/price is more than daunting. I try not to get to involved but thought someoe on the forums would have a thought other than what we have already come up with...
