I understood both Q and HSN were both already owned by Qurate Group- so QVC didn't actually "purchase" HSN-

Let's not forget the December 2021 Rocky Mount NC warehouse fire. I think that was BIG hit for QVC. I truly feel that their warehouse operations and shipping never fully recovered from this. And the Ontario, California warehouse seems to have problem after problem. Recently, I had 5 orders in limbo for weeks and weeks due to a problem w/ that warehouse. Frustrating for them but more frustrating for customers ... and those shipping issues will trickle down to decreased sales as customers become dissatisfied with shipping times and question the reliability of prompt delivery. Unique product offerings have pretty much disappeared, except for the clothing category. Some of my "go to" brands have either disappeared or diminished in quality ... where oh where are my beloved Luminara candles? most of my Valerie items arrive damaged and squished in boxes w/ no protection, Valerie pricing has skyrocketed, Denim & Co has stopped offering fabrics/fit/styles that I want, they've lost control of quality/consistency in the fit of clothing (same item, same size, fit can be very different), the Christmas tree I bought last year had red hot plug/power bank ... the list goes on and on. I only buy from select categories now. I don't understand "the age of possibility" and how it actually relates to us, the customer. Big Vegas events for what purpose? They definitely don't influence me.

The remaining portion of HSN was acquired by Liberty in an all-stock transaction of QVC stock, valued at about $2.1 billion in 2017.
In retrospect, the price was too high and QVC started writing down the value of the HSN brand and value late last year. The QVC Group balance sheet shows a $1.5 billion write down in Trade Name and Goodwill.
I have no doubt that the HSN name will soon disappear completely.
Every retailer has substantial debt. It's required to finance inventory. Nothing too unusual about QVC Group's liabilities.

We've never seen QVC Group/Qurate report QVC separately from HSN financials. I suspect, and I have nothing concrete to base it on, that HSN's separate results perform worse than QVC's. They have their own separate presidents, executive management team, and their own business and marketing strategies.
Posters here want to denegrate many of the QVC brands, but I haven't seen HSN's brands doing a bang up job. When is the last time the quarterly meeting boasted about the HSN brands? Some here may be tired of Kim Gravel on air so much (I'm one of them), but her brand has generated a huge amount of sales since it's beginning. More power to Kim!
I wouldn't be surprised if the HSN move is their last chance for them to prove their worth in sales. Just my opinion, based on no sales figures. Similar to the QVC speculations.

@THEY CallMe Mr Wilkes I agree 100%.

I do wonder what they'll do with all of the HSN hosts.
Convert the HSN channels to new QVC speciality broadcasts, devote some to streaming and Tik Tok and/or restore 24 hour programming??
Will be interesting to see.

Seems to me there is quite a bit of loss due to customer returns. Items that have been used so they can't be resold.

Every large and small business has some degree of debt, QVC is just part of a larger corporation of the Quarate group which encases many large retail companies. All of this doom and gloom is unwarranted IMO. They are not going anywhere anytime soon. I for one, love shopping on QVC. Other than consigment stores near me, I don't ever shop brick n mortar retail. Sometimes I occasionally shop Gap or J Crew on line, but it's a rare thing. I like seeing the clothes modeled live, and I have a few favorite designers that are only here. There is so much in one place, and I feel the prices are reasonable and competitive.

@sweetlife20 Wonder if that counts the items bought and not shipped for weeks and weeks?
