My friend is trying to quit smoking using the nicotine patch and it seems to be giving her strange and vivid dreams.Last nights dream was proper etiquette when eating worms. Is it best to use chop sticks or twirl them on your fork spaghetti style.LOL! She says that these dreams are so real that she woke up still seeing the worms heaped on her plate.Good news though...she has been smoke free for three weeks.

I took Chantix and had the same thing happened. Either they were really weird or really bad nightmares. And they stayed with you for a while during the day. Stopped the chantix. Had surgery about 5 weeks ago and had to stay in the hospital for 7 day. No cigs for 7 days and never started again when I got home. I am now officially an ex-smoker. It's so hard to do and say contrats to friend for me.

I've heard that the dreams can be very real and sometimes very scary.  Fortunately, I quit without drugs.  I had to have emergency surgery and was in the hospital for several days.  I figured I had made it through the worst and was able to keep going on my own.     It's been over 7 years and sometimes I still think about smoking.  Please tell your friend to stick with it.  It can be done!

It's the little things.

I quit easily with Chantix and didn't even crave my "love" chocolate!

My friend couldn't tolerate Chantix at all.

Your friend should consider removing the patch before bed.

Another ex-smoker here, 10 years, after a hospital and rehab stay.  I guess you could say I stopped "cold turkey" and never looked back, and never had strong cravings.

Good for her !!!  Please tell her we all hope she hangs tough.  The strange dreams will subside as she weans off the nicotene.  I smoked for over 25 years, quit about a year and a half ago.  I know its not easy and give her all the credit in the world.
