Using profanity has nothing to do with someone's morals.

I'll admit to using salty language, including thr dreaded F word. I do try to not swear in front of people who would be offended, and l certainly didn't use that language when I was at work.

sadly this is just another sign of the deterioration of what used to be our "culture." how often do you hear elevated vocabulary? uh, never.

It's a result of a limited vocabulary and declining virtue. I'm far from being perfect, but I do get sick of hearing people open their mouths (often in front of small children) and speak nothing but vulgarity.
I recently heard a man throw out the F Bomb in a public setting and I said to him, "bless your heart! Do you kiss your wife with that mouth?" Pure silence. It was priceless!

That's pretty funny!
On the rare occasion that I hear the bomb at the ice rink I'll say, "This is a G-rated setting."

Exactly. Sometimes I cannot believe what I read on these forums. There is so much judgement and hate.

I think the f-word is pretty much a part of our society now. I bet some people who go on about raising their children "right and with morals" would be very surprised how they talk when not around their mothers!

@SurferWife your remarks about people having a limited vocabulary resonated with me. When I was about 15 my Mother told me that there were many words in the English language to express any emotion I might be feeling. Her challenge to me was to use one of them rather than a profane word. It was something I took to heart and now many years later, I still try to abide by that.

Said it in another thread, "welcome to the 21st century". Remember the "can't hurt poor wittle babies self esteem"? Now the chickens have come back home to roost. No respect/no manners, but plenty of 4 letter words to spit out regardless of who is around.
Now it's everyone gets a trophy. Can't have baby think he/she is a loser. Good luck with your grandkids, you'll need it.Would like to think it will be different and better, but I see it getting worse before it gets better.

i own a business in an industry that is mostly men......and i hear profanity on a daily basis. i am not really one that uses too many curse words, but i think i have gotten used to hearing it. i definitely DONT agree that people who use it have a limited vocabulary.
i have recently raised three children and if you go into their high school you will hear profanity in the halls pretty frequently.
