My hysterectomy in 1995 I spent two nights.  My Dr. said he would have sent me home after one night but I did not put on any makeup so he thought I must not feel to good.  I informed him that I did not wear makeup while lying in bed.  Still only two nights almost 30 years ago.

You are not royalty.  They have a different set of guidelines when it comes to being hospitalized.  I am sure that when Princess Kate is released from the hospital her glam squad will have her perfectly coiffed and have perfect make-up.  You just have to see the photographs when she left the hospital after each of her children were born.  There wasn't a hair out of place.

For those that follow Catherine, Princess of Wales (proper title , not Princess Catherine nor Princess Kate) she is in the long-time habit of doing her own makeup and hair, at least the last i knew, and per google,  she didnt use a glam squad.

Kate has formal titles, a personal name and what's sometimes called a "popular name" which is how she's most commonly known around the world.

Women marrying into the royal family all have popular names, which is what large publications like People, Hello!, etc commonly use.

While they all have formal titles, the women are more commonly referred to as Fergie, Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton.

A personal example ... if your daughter was a physician, she's be called Dr. Smith at work.  If she came over for dinner, you'd (probably) call her Helen, not Dr. Smith.  Both are correct names.

Re: Princess Kate in hospital

Two weeks in the hospital and not returning to her royal duties until after Easter sounds like the surgery was involved. The tummy tuck idea is silly. There is nothing to tuck! Prayers for her that she makes a smooth recovery and that William does his very best to raise the children in her absence...while continuing his duties. His father is having prosate surgery, and although a common procedure for men his age, his age can make it riskier. William has his hands full, that's for sure. I understand the long-time nanny will be assisting more in Kate's absence, but I am sure the children will miss Kate since she has such a hands-on role in their upbringing, as does William. I also read that Sarah Ferguson was just diagnosed with melanoma on her face. Even though she was considered shunned after her divorce from Andrew, she was still adored by the Queen and they remained close friends until the Queen's death. Sarah now has her sweet corgies. My best wishes for each of them.

I also wonder if the longer hospital stay is to ensure privacy away from the ever-present paparazzi

Re: Princess Kate in hospital

There now seems to be wild speculation regarding Kate and her lack of public appearances since her surgery. They gave out a very specific timeline on when she would resume her royal duties with public appearances and speaking. I guess the press can't stand that she has been recuperating privately. I am sure she has savored this time without the paparazzi. I wish her well. I am sure the longer she is out of the public eye, the more speculation will grow.
