Re: Posting on threads only to point out writing flaws...

@BalletBabe  I've found the best thing to do on facebook is to only accept friend requests from people who actually are your friends & family in real life. Then close down your posts so only your friends see them. I don't have a ton of people on my FB page - not important to me. I do know personally every person on my page & I don't have trolls and bullies on it.

@151949  Oh I agree 100%.   I used to have a ton of friends because I started playing that stupid farmville.  I quit that long ago and went through my list and knocked more then half of the people on there off.  I go on there to have fun and anyone that causes me grief, I knock them off my page.   I will not play the games anymore.   I got real bored with those fast.  I cannot believe the people that pay real money for lives or whatever.   Talk about throwing money anyway.

@Still keeper of the koi Don't let picky, nasty posters bother you one bit.  Posting from a phone is something I wouldn't even attempt, it is very difficult (IMHO).  It would be nice if there were an "ignore button" for those folks. .

@BalletBabe Yes, I have some cousins who I had to delete from my FB page because I didn't carte for their views on things and despite repeatedly asking them to not subject me to it - delete was the only way to get it out of my life.Another cousin's son was posting porno - got rid of him very quickly.

Re: Posting on threads only to point out writing flaws...

I had to look for this thread but finally found it.

I had this happen today. Posted a simple sentence.

I think people live to find flaws in everyone else but themselves. I do think they want to make themselves feel better they rip other people posts apart.

Just angers me. I would like to tell this poster a few simple things LOL , it is taking me must restraint to not answer this person back.

Some people do, but not the majority. Seriously, not answering back is the best retort; it’s beneath your dignity and you don’t care anyway (at least, I don’t). Not replying/retorting leaves the other poster looking rude, not you. Trying to get your goat is the classic pasttime on these forums.

OMG!  Anyone who criticizes a person's posts because of spelling or whatever!

I don't post on this website from my phone or ipad (only on my laptop) because if I did even I wouldn't recognize some of the gibberish that comes out of those two!  Really!

Even texts, I swear my phone has a mind of it's own.  I'll text something and hit 'send' then later I'll read what I sent and I'm trying to figure out what the 'hay' was I talking about!

Look, if you let little things like this bother you, you shouldn't.  I don't know your age (I'm 71) but those of us who have lived some have figured out by now you can't control what other's think or do.

The only people we are responsible for are ourselves.  There's a saying I have in my kitchen that says, "When you choose the behavior, you choose the consequences".

If you are pure in your heart (with kind thoughts I mean) that's what's important.

The days of correct spelling, etc, are gone.  That's not to say you should try to spell your best, but please, don't worry about it.

I try to remember to click on 'spell check' when I remember it catches all kind of stuff.

I agree with your post in general, but the bolded part I can’t agree with. We can’t just decide we don’t need to care how anything is spelled and each do our own thing, it’s totally okay to spell however you choose because there are no rules any more.

There are still English and Spelling classes and examinations, and grades on those may decide whether one moves up a grade, graduates or gets into a decent school or job.

Typos are typos, autocorrect misspellings are what they are, but correct spelling is not a thing of the past for most people.

Re: Posting on threads only to point out writing flaws...

@Moonchilde  When I said they are gone, I didn't say I thought it was a good thing.

If you read any of my posts I think you'd see I sometimes use what my Daddy would call 25 cent words.  Those are words you don't see much anymore (i.e. angst)...that would be one of them.

I just don't believe in berating someone for posting an idea because I've decided to correct them.  I see it as a way of 'making oneself look good at the expense of another'.  I have a real dislike for people who do that.

This is a time where (unlike in the past) it seems (my opinion) people aren't applauded for voicing their opinion.  Instead if they don't agree with the masses, they are drone out or made to feel inferior.

I said I almost always try to click on spell check.  Maybe 98 percent of the time I remember, but there have been times when I've gone back and ...... well...I should have remembered.

It's just beyond me that anyone would be so critical of another just because they (he or she) misspelled a word ...or inserted an incorrect word.

Have you ever read some of the texts and tweets young people use these days?  I have!  I have teenage grandchildren.  Sometimes I have to ask them decipher the meaning of a posting (not from them, but from others).

I just had a conversation today with a dear friend that years ago (14 to be exact) I sent letters and emails to my state Senators that I was concerned about the use of the English language.

So, in conclusion, if you feel like my post was saying I no longer felt like spelling was important, you misread my post (or giving the benefit of doubt) perhaps I did not express myself fully.

I do believe some things are more important than others.  I've tried to live my life (to the best of my ability) as a kind person.

As far as I'm concerned, that kindness extends to everyone (myself included) who flubs up in various ways in life.

On more than one occasion (if you knew me) you hear me say, "Well, if I was perfect....I could say or do this or that....but since I'm not perfect...."
