Humans never cease to amaze me with their rudeness.  What a horrible thing to teach your kids.

Sadly, so much anger and hatred has been unleashed over the last few years and I wonder what it's going to take to dial it back.

I'm not around people much at all, and really haven't been for quite a few years now.  I like it that way.  I'm pretty getalongable, myself, but I hear of so much unnecessary anger, prejudice, and other types of hatred that it is really disappointing.

I'm just going to keep being me - trying to brush off the negativity, use my manners, and  talk politely with others.

At the grocery store today, outside of checking out and talking with the cashier and bagger (both really nice peeps who have been there a long time), I only talked with one man.   He didn't wear a mask.  I did.  We were both polite and considerate.   I felt kind of bad because he stopped me outside the store to ask if I knew anything about the plants that were on the front wall.    Ya got the wrong person.  I know zip about gardening.   But he was very nice and I hope he ended up getting the answers he was seeking about which plants are good with which environment.

I like nice people and just try to avoid those who aren't.  Smiley Happy

Because of the shaming/diversity  going on  these days.....no one wants to call out and punish those who are commiting a majority of the crimes......so not much will be done sadly

@kelsey17"diversity"?????

And who exactly are those who are commiting a majority of the crimes?

I don't think peoples' bad behaviors have anything to do with the pandemic or being recently quarantined, etc. I think it has to do with the "temperment and deamanor" of some folks recently in important positions of power. There's an unfortunate ripple effect where people just don't hold back anymore with bad behavior. I hope we can get civility back on track.

Who raised all of these people who think rules don't apply to them?

Or the people who feel that anyone that doesn't look like them are responsible for all the problems in society.

Yeah, let's blame diversity.

One does wonder for how long some factions are going to scapegoat 'folks recently in important positions of power'? There might have been some impact, but the reality is most of the problems discussed on this thread are of long standing and have been escalating over time.

Slowly but surely, society is breaking down. For a variety of reasons, the pandemic clearly exacerbated already existing issues around anxiety, anger and entitlement. Add to all the usual stressors of mass society the fact that too many excuses have routinely been promulgated for too many people demonstrating too many instances of bad behavior and quite honestly and quite sadly, there's no going back now. Sorry to say, I don't see civility making a comeback anytime soon.
