PayPal used to offer the option of having a check mailed to you for acquired money from returns in the "wallet". That option has stopped and now you can either have it sent to your bank or "keep it in Paypal" but I am confused as to how that works. I really prefered having a check mailed to me because I really do not want to link my bank account to PayPay. Guess I don't have many options here that I like! Thoughts?

Paypal has only my credit card # - the credit card I use solely for Internet purchases. When I buy something, Paypal charges that credit card. If I return something, Paypal just credits it back to that credit card. No bank account involved.

@bargainsgirl - If you have your refund added to your PayPal account, they will use that first if you choose, when you order something again. I don't have my bank information listed on my account and never would.
I have a CC on my account and that's what I pay with, unless I occasionally have money in my PayPal account.

I never use PayPal. By accident, something I bought went through PayPal. I contacted them and had Too my account closed. Only want payments directly through my card that is from my bank. Too much fraud and too much info floating around out there.

Did the money in Paypal come to you through a retailer refund? If so, they did have CC info, right? Or .. not?
I think Paypal is a safe option, but perhaps you could attach a credit card to it, have your money transferred and then remove it?
Or .... let it sit there and use it for your next transaction on Ebay or Amazon?

I use PayPal all the time, never had any problems. When I get a refund I keep the money in my PayPal account, that gives me the option of using it to pay for a purchase...the amount I have is shown when I check out, it could be enough to pay for the item in full or I can combine the amount with my credit card. It's easy @bargainsgirl

@barginsgirl. Keep in mind that you've given your banking information to everyone to whom you ever wrote a check. It's not all that secret.
Good point .... and keep in mind if Paypal could still send you a check, and you deposited it in your checking account, your banking information would be on the back of the cancelled check, plain as day.
Nothing "secret" about it.

I've had my bank account linked to Paypal for years. It's one of the safest payment systems out there.
