@Shanus In honor of 2026 Pantone Color of the Year, I've got on a shirt today in this dark teal color. It has a med teal, dark teal, navy and black. The overall look is the Pantone color. I like the color but I won't be adding any decor in that color.
I think you asked everyone what their favorite Thanksgiving dish was. It would have been my MIL's dressing if I'd made it like I usually do, but it was my broccoli-cheese-rice casserole with fried onions on top.

Well it's very nice for teal lovers. I don't care for the shades to match it as well as teal. It is a seasonal color in my opinion, This teal is for winter. Out in spring. Who makes up these colors anyway? Rinse, repeat.
You know what I wish that will probably never happen? A true medium "Navy". When I go to the stores like Saks I can't tell what shade is navy or black looking on the rack.
Please, please, can we have a beautiful hue of the lightest shade of navy? One that is discerning from black easily? Nah, won't happen. I've been checking for 15 years. sigh.
I think they forgot how. lol. but serious. - When I look at my closet I can't even tell with my blazers what is what. Is it black? Nah, Is it Navy? Nah? What a wasted of money on quality items I have spent. I'm sure I'm not alone. (I will donate) Just purchase black and good luck. I give up.

@Pink123 I CANNOT tell the difference in my Susan Graver black and navy pants. They are years old. So many times I thought I was wearing black, and in total sunlight you can tell it's navy. Not in my home lighting, bright or not. Frustrating.

love this color. Now if they will make clothes in this color, like the 1990's and early 2000's. I will be happy! Goes great with my red hair!!!

Thank you @lynnie61 , your are 100 percent correct. I gave up myself.
No matter what the expensive, inexpensive brand, or anything when they call it navy it will be black getting it home. I gave up years ago on this odd phenomenon. ![]()
PS. Don't order black pants, slacks to match if it is not a suit, good luck![]()

I recall in the Color Me Beautiful era hearing "Everyone can wear teal." There were so many generalizations but I guess it was a place to start when looking at color and what is flattering and what is not.

@Pink123 I wear teal all year if I can get it. To me the only seasonal colors are pastel. I wear black, teal, forest green etc in summer. Just me. I agree blacks come in a billion shades, and navy, forget it. I do know when I used to to tie dye and batik back in 70's, when we made the dyes ...black was a hard one It was always taught to me add navy to black to intensify it. Also, you need professional, protien dyes, we used to get those in art supply place. Then to keep its blackness, there were a series of soaking methods used. Salt was one? Took me forever to get a good piece of black color, or dye to last without looking charcoal after 3:washings. Today's process is often vat dyed, not thread dyed, or yarn dyed. Or it is even sprayed or rolled on like wallpaper. If they weave the fabric from black fibers, it is usually best. But in today's cheaper market, they don't want to do that. That's makes a difference. Navy is a specialty color a mixture of 4 colors if I remember. No one fabric weaver place has the same ratio. I used to use ultramarine blue, cobalt blue and black. Adding Black is where everything runs amok , lol. Cobalt blue is very expensive, very. But, as I said I last dyed anything about 1990, so I could be mikes off base

Thanks for the information @shoekitty. I hear you loud and clear.
Have you ever purchased a black jacket and said to yourself I'm going to find a matching pair of pants and get the exact shade in black and make it suited.. Well good luck, it never happens very often![]()
