That sometimes happens when an accident occurs when a vehicle slams into a power pole nearby, power gets shut down until repairs are made..

More annoying than anything.....AND elevators go out, so 3 flights of stairs.
@Shanus. If you leave the door closed, it takes a long time for a fridge to get warm enough to ruin food...like several days.

I think the grid is stressed, too...and my city keeps telling us that putting in a new AI center here won't affect it...yeah right.

We had a 52-1/2 hour outage over the 4th of July weekend. Not going through that again. We 're getting a whole house generator. I think our power company (Cleveland Public Power) is in cohoots with the generator people to get a kick-back from every system they sell. We lose power all the time.

@tiny 2 --mine is the Eco Delta 2. Got it in Dec of 2024. Came with the solar panels and think I paid right around $600-ish. The ones sold here and at HSN have more accessories than mine did. Was a Black Friday deal from AMZ. It is a bit heavy--I can move it, but I bought a dolly for it so no big deal to move it around. It lives in my pantry in my kitchen. and IF----I remember😣 to push the AC button in the back--it works like a charm. I lost my refer full of food back then, around $300 worth. My DIL came and got the stuff in my freezer to put in hers so that was safe. I like feeling, that at least my refer/freezer contents will be safe, if the power goes out.

I keep window LED candle lights around the house in case of power outages, & have little flashlights in most rooms

I don't live where they have rolling blackouts, but a whole house backup generator does seem like a good idea, in those instances.
Do they allow them in areas where fossil fuels are tsked tsked?

We got a Generac last Fall due to multiple power outages in the Spring. I think we had 5 outages in 7 weeks, the longest lasting 26 hours. Dominion Energy's response time wasn't great, nor were their status updates on their website. The biggest installation delays were obtaining local permits and subsequent inspections. It was expensive, but well worth it. When the power goes out, we're up and running again in less than a minute - just like the tv commercials.
