I say Puh-Kahn also!
When I was small the next door neighbor had a huge pecan tree. The branches overhung our fence. It was my job to gather the nuts and crack them for cooking.
My mother warned me about getting shells in the cracked nuts. I was very careful!

@1Snickers , @Sweet Caroline 1, Puh Kahn here too. We have a huge pecan tree in our backyard. We had a squirrel one year that would climb up high, shake the branches to make the pecans drop, then run down to get them. Haha.

@Tissyanne Thank you for the beautiful June thread! It reminds me of being a kid and anticipating a whole Summer of vacation, beach, friends and food.
It's great to feel like a kid again!😍 🌞🐚🍉🍦🏖️🎡
@1Snickers , Ah, I remember that summer feeling as a child. There were lots of kids in my neighborhood, and we played outside a lot. One of my fondest memories is the old fashioned ice cream truck coming down our block. I always got a dreamsicle. They were so good.
My dad grilled burgers a lot, and then he would make vanilla ice cream. I can still see him sitting on the steps of our patio, turning the ice cream maker. My mom would mix everything up, and then he packed it in ice, and churned away. Such good memories.
I hope you, and Snickers have a good summer. Enjoy your son, and granddaughter. Your fun stories always bring a smile to my day.

@Sweet Caroline 1 , Thank you for your wonderful contributions here. I know you, and I, much prefer the cool weather, but summer does bring fun times too.
Today will be 100, and all week the same. Our ac is already running this morning.
You and Junior enjoy the summer. Take good care, my friend. ![]()

@Tissyanne, @1Snickers and All, Remember these? We called them sun suits. They were fun and cool to play in and just right if we started playing in the hose. We spent our summers outside playing all kinds of things. Making mud pies, playing with the plastic baseball and bat then turned on the back yard light and kept playing after dark. Almost always barefoot and oh so gross if we stepped on a snail.
