So I live 20 minutes from the ocean in MD.  With Erin out there churning it up, our beaches and Delaware beaches are closed to swimming.  Too bad  - the water is 80 degrees.  I rode down after work to see what was happening.  It's rough, but I've seen it worse.  I really wanted to jump in but had to settle for letting the surf  swirl around my ankles.  Tomorrow is the day it passes a few hundred miles off our coast. I will ride back down again.  The air at home and at the beach is heavy laden with humidity and high dew point.  However, no wind...just a light breeze.

I'm savoring because that dreaded Fall/Winter is coming 😭

NYC public beaches are all closed today and Thursday. People can visit the beach and stay on the sand, but entering the water is forbidden. Lifeguards are walking along the beach shorelines to stop people from going into the water altogether. There is very rough surf and forceful rip currents. Wind is not yet a factor of any concern.

Beaches may reopen on Friday or for the weekend after conditions are evaluated for safety.

My friends were in OC this week and left early, said all the indoor spots like the outlet stores were mobbed and the trip was a bust.

Re: Ocean Starting to Swirl

@Shelbelle The Hot Air Balloon festival was cancelled but they are still having the Jeep Fest but Jeeps will be riding along the Boardwalk instead of on the beach.  Our weekend weather after Thursday is going to be sunny and beautiful.

Those of us in Arizona are looking forward to Fall/Winter coming.  It's 111 on my back patio right now!

MA and RI beaches are closed. There are some ridiculously high waves.
