Today,I went to the nursing home to visit my uncle.I asked him if he remembered me,and his eyes filled with tears. He said of course I remember you.It is his birthday so his 2 grandchildren and his sisters(MY parents included were there. There was cake and ice cream to celebrate. I pleasantly surprised how clean and nice smelling this home was.I have been before to different homes to see relatives, and the odor would always make me gag. If I never get to see my uncle again,I will always cherish this memory.

Have a awsome workweek q buddies, and stay COOL!

Heartwarming. And I'll bet this day made your uncle so happy and feel loved. These visits to our elders in nursing homes and assisted living are so important. He's fortunate to have so many caring family members do so. Glad you had such a nice visit you'll always remember.

@Luvsmyfam  It was so nice you were able to visit your uncle in tne nursing home, such good memories for both you & your uncle.

It is unfortunate that as one ages in a nursing home less & less people visit which is sad.  And, in my neck of the woods the nursing homes are not horrible; but my remembrance is that when growing up my aunt was in a home that mostly took welfare clients & it smelled horrible.

My mother was in a nursing home for about 8 years. It was the best I have ever seen. It was family run. It truly became her home. One of the other patients was a doctor and they became fast friends. Sat together for every meal. Some of the other ladies were jealous. They offered so much to the patients. We often took my mother out and she would always say I want to go home now. She passed when she was 99 years old.
