Very nice!

And I think it all begins with mothers. Children believe what we do more than what we say.

I was raised by a mom that didn't get overly feminine and frilly. She didn't wear much makeup, wore dresses for church and special occasions, but was in more comfortable clothing most of the time, and didn't push the 'princess' lifestyle on me.

Our lives weren't about clothing, makeup, mani pedis enhancements, or all the things that many place importance in today. When our daughters see us spending so much time and money, effort, and worry on how we look, how we compare to others, they internalize that at a very early age.

All the princess modeling at such a young age, tends to lead to an increased chance of complete infatuation with looks. If it is balanced with other things, I feel it is good for the imagination, but when it is the only thing, can be detrimental.

I really would like to believe we could make young girls believe that beauty is only skin deep, but that is fantasy in our world. I just read somewhere where given the choice girls would still rather be pretty than  smart, I loved the post though.
