Among Friends

It must be comforting to believe in an afterlife. Personally, I have my doubts. So, no, I have had no signs from my departed loved ones.

The most vivid was from my great Aunt Marie, she and my gram helped raise me - my parents divorced when I was young. I was getting married and 3 days before the wedding she passed away very suddenly, things were crazy but we went ahead with the wedding-we buried her that morning. That following week I dreamt of her, in my dream I was on the phone with my Maid of Honor, and my aunt was in my kitchen covered with a blanket. I told my friend that it was okay, that Aunt Marie wasn't cold, I had covered her with a blanket and told her I loved her . . .

My father came to see my house after his death . . . I felt his presence, was on the phone with a dear friend when he did so, I smelled his pipe . . . he lived in Raleigh NC, I was in PA. . . 2 days later my stepmom called to tell me he was taken to the hospital. He died that next day. My mom finds things I've misplaced  and puts them in very obvious places . . .  I always look up and say 'Thanks, Mom.'

Sometimes when I see butterflies flitting around the garden I think my mom could be watching. Not sure if it is true but I like to think so.

My DH and I were married for 59 years.  When he passed he was in hospice care so we were prepared for his death.  But I couldn't cry, just couldn't cry.  Three days or so later I was sitting at my kitchen counter, the patio door was open, sun was shining, when a little bird landed on the outside chair, inches from the screen, and looked at me, started singing a lovely song that went on what seemed like forever.  And then I finally cried.

No.  miss my husband of 62 years and my mind has memories that when I experience or see certain things I connect to him.  Wheither it is nature, sounds , etc.  God was gracious.

People of all belief systems are of course, free to believe as they wish.

However, for all those who put stock in the Bible, it's clear that the Judeo-Christian God states repeatedly that there is no communication between the living and the dead. God, as portrayed in the Bible wants his followers to find comfort in the Deity, not in the dead. It is re-stated very emphatically throughout, and believers are warned against it.

Thank you for the reminder to thank my eternal and loving G-d for the sure knowledge and witness I have as a practicing Christian to know that the Heavens *are not* closed.

I am a believer and loved reading all your experiences.  I haven't had any but my grandmother was in a nursing home and said my grandfather would visit her.  I loved what the Priest said, just go with it!

This is a bit off topic but I believe in Guardian Angels. I was in the car just before impact in a bad head on accident, a voice in my ear whispered, "You are going to be alright!" My Aunt / Godmother shared with me hearing a voice telling her to just breathe when she had anxiety.
