Lots of good ideas listed.  Depends on your man.

I would mirror what he put in my stocking as to interests and wants.. Too many women recieve empty stockings because they are the only one's filling them.

I am the practical gift parent. We have three sons, now all grown men. I buy batteries for their stockings every year. I also got them each this year the set of two microfiber towels, the small ones for glasses and their phones. I also got each a retractable back scratcher. DH buys them spices that they like. I bought the Halo power banks, but the reviews were so bad that I unwrapped them and sent them back to QVC. Gift cards or cash is good in stockings too.

For my husband this year I put lottery scratch off tickets, 2 pair of socks from the Dollar Store (Mickey Mouse and Star Wars), mints, Sweet Tart original candy (his favorite), a Snickers piece of Christmas candy, and Afrin.  In the past I've also put in car wash gift certificates, These clip/car key holder thing from Home DepotJersey Mikes gift certificates, lip balm.  That's all I can think of right now.

Sometimes having a theme makes it easier.

- things to wear: tie, belt, socks, gloves, cologne

- game night: deck of cards, dice, snacks

- things to do: calendar, fishing lures, concert tickets

I put in DH's stocking several gift cards so he can pick up lunch when he's out and about. I also included his favorite candy and Little Debbie snack cakes.
