I'm looking thru some Medicare statements and some indicate that 1) THIS IS NOT A BILL and 2) indicates the amt we MAY owe. On the bills where it says this is what we "may" owe, would this amt be what our secondary should pick up and that's why it says "may owe"?
Thanks

Yes.

Great, thanks so much.
I don't think SS and Medicare ever got the
Paper Reduction Act notification. This
is bananas!

You will get a bill if you owe anything after your supplemental policy pays their part.

Medicare does not do any billing at all, they farm it out. The insurance company's name will be at the top of this type preliminary notice.
If it is an EOB from Part C or Part D it well might be accurate. If it is MSN for Part A or B the final amount will depend any any supplement purchased.
Just wait a bit.

Just started SS in Oct (first payment). Wasn't the amount they originally sent (in writing through the mail).
Then I get an update, that amount is changing again. 2nd check different amount.
Third check, another amount and a letter came afterwards with a different amount of what my payment would be/would've been.
So I've collected 3 months, 3 different amounts some more, some less.
Then the notification of the COLA increase. Can't wait to see if it's what they're 'projecting'.
When I say 'check' I mean deposit....I'm old school and envision a paper check being deposited to our account. lol

@Lucky Charm I have a hard time with keeping up with the SS stuff. First, as opposed to everything else, you have to live the month before they pay you for that month. Then, you may be subject to IRMAA the first year which is additional taken out of your check because they look back 2 years on your taxes and determine that you made over a certain amount of money. That can be appealed, but from what I've read, it's a process even if you have good reason for the appeal. They never approve appeals on the first try.
Also, your COLA statement does not reflect any Part D Changes made during open enrollment. Mine shows the amount it was going to go up to before I changed plans to a $0 plan. And that could also affect the tax amount if you have taxes taken out.
Eventually, they'll get it figured out, and if they got something wrong and you overpaid, they'll refund if to you. I got a refund at some point after the first year on mine.

Are you talking about Original MC or a MC Advantage plan?
