If anyone's followed my journey with computers and techie issues, I'm inept to say the least.

I've always used a mouse with my laptop, but on a recent car trip, lap top on my lap,  there was no place for my mouse....OMG!

It was time to learn touse the square in the middle of the bottom of the computer and tap, space, move the curser around using my fingers.

It's been about a week and I'm getting better, but if you see words without spacing and edited posts/threads, I've gone back to edit them. Proofreading doesn't always catch the mistakes because I type so fast.

@Shanus   lol  It gets better.  I haven't owned a mouse for about a decade now.  The only time I use one is at the public library where it's the only option for searching ihe catalog.  I can just manage to make the cursor go where I want it to!

@millieshops   It feels odd, but I will keep plugging along. Sometimes I can't find the arrow...it's running all over the screen when I get too heavy handed.  😒

@Shanus   There is always something new to learn in the techie world.  You will catch on fast with the pad.  I enjoy your posts and have never noticed any misspelling or errors. Even if there were, no need to worry...I think most of us are reading for content ....not edits or minor mistakes. Looking forward to your messages in the future.

@ShanusSmiley Happy

Being a musician, my fingers are pretty agile. I much prefer a mouse! I find it faster than using the touch screen on my lap.

DH, on the other hand, prefers that touchpad.

What I don't do so well is phone text with my thumbs. Not that my fingers are fat, but I always think I'll be hitting wrong keys.

I watched the other day as my future grand- SIL was texting with his huge thumbs and asked how he didn't strike wrong letters. He said he didn't know, that he does hit the wrong ones at times.

My laptop also has a wireless mouse, so when I do use that, the mouse is always there!

@phoenixbrd  and others:  Thanks for your support as I muddle along.

I'm also learning to "stream" our TV channels and record without Specturm (yucky service and the prices for DVRs are rediculous). I have many shows that record automatically and need to put them all in and then learn to watch them back after recorded. What's weird is when I put the info in one room, I can watch what I recorded in any room that's set up. Of course with a DVR, there's been one in all rooms with a TV.

@Harpa   I'm the same with texting on the phone and marvel at others with their agility.  I'm a fast typist but really sloooow when it comes to texting.

Count me among those unable to text rapidly by using fingers or thumbs.  Hence, I choose to dictate my texts. Sometimes I have to do some editing, but still better than using fingers or thumbs for me.  I've been using the touch pad on my laptop since forever.

@Harpa   I make jewelry and also thought my little fingers were agile. No way can I speed along with thumbs texting on my cell.

Unless I'm at my desk, how do you use the mouse? If I'm on the sofa w/ the lap top...no place for mouse.

We get tickets for art exhibits or concerts and where are they?..... on the phone with a bar code...menus sometimes  have that "square", too instead of a printed menu. What a PIA! ***learning THAT, too.
