I don't have the patience to hand write any longer. And I'm used to the convenience of being able to edit a type-written document. I remember hand writing letters, changing how I wanted to say something, and going thru multiple sheets of paper with my edits and trying to get it to look nice. .

Interestingly (at least to me!), I form my cursive that we called "script" back in the 1950s, the same way as I did in 3rd grade, when I had to learn to write cursive. By the way, I was never one of those girls who absolutely LOVED to practice cursive andto color in coloring books, to out clothes for paper dolls etc. SO, my cursive was never beautiful --but fairly good. When I take my time it still would pass muster from my dear 3rd grade teacher!
HOWEVER, I print addresses on envelopes very clearly, in order to help the postal service -- AND to get my mail delivered!
Best wishes, @Shanus

I was the teacher whose grade level was responsible for introducing cursive. It was extremely time consuming and devoured a big chunk of the Language Arts time allotment. Its purpose was to increase the speed of communication through the written word. That is no longer necessary. We are quite effectively communicating on this forum without cursive. Today's children have skills in communicating that many of us struggle to implement. Theirs is a different world.
I get it, but what I dont get is his how are the kids today supposed to develop their own signature in the adult world?
your signature can be pretty much anything......a straight line, a curvy line, or just a printed style. mnuchin is 60 years old.

There are days when my hand writing is shaky but thankfully I still can and enjoy writing. I always send cards out to family for birthdays and holidays, I write lists and notes. I have always loved writing especially with a fountain pen. I wish I had saved my many fountain pens I had when younger. I find it very sad children aren't taught cursive anymore, in my opinion it is a loss. I can text if necessary but much prefer writing.

I'm a lefty, although that probably has nothing to do with it, but my handwriting has always been pretty bad. It's definitely gotten worse though as I get older (66).

@Shelbelle Teach them! Buy them pretty pens in colors and learn and laugh with them! There is much of history lost to people who can't read and write cursive.

There aren't many occasions when I have to use cursive but I can. Sometimes when I'm writing a grocery list or notes, I deliberately use cursive. I still have nice handwriting.

Yes,mine seems to be somewhat shaky. @Shanus Why don't you sign the card then do your greetings, good wishes and comments on the computer, print and enclose them with your card? I'm sure the recipient would appreciate that

Yep, used to have pretty good cursive handwriting. Over the years I found I had to make sure it was a thick tablet, or put something under the paper I was writing on, to keep my handwriting looking pretty good.
Now there are days that I have trouble signing my name to look like my real signature. I write now as little as possible.
