He had 6 children, worked in a coal mine, also tended bar at the VFW, had a barbershop that he worked in 3 nights a week and was very active in our church-including helping to build the new one when the original one burned down. He built every home we ever lived in, by hand. He taught me to re-shingle a roof, use a hammer and a power saw....and after I married he taught my husband to do the same. Even in his 80's he and my husband repaired our roof on this house, and they built a huge shed below our pool. He was an amazing man.


Sounds like a wonderful man that your mother brought into your life.I think you are  very lucky to now have many memories,heard once "A memory is a photograph taken by the heart to make a special moment last forever."

I don't know you but I know the pain of losing both my parents. It's a painful void that's always there but in time gets a little easier. Sweet memories of him will get you through it. My condolences
