Live to 100 Netflix documentary

I highly recommend Live to 100 on Netflix.  My health coach recommended it to our group and I'm so happy he did.  It documents the diets and practices that many people across the planet who live strong, healthy, fulfilling lives deep into their 90s adhere to.  Things that we can all do.  Wherever these people live, it's the same "formula".

I don't want to live to be 100. It's already a struggle to be 68.

I'm always annoyed by these "blue zone" shows and books because they all talk about having lots of close friends and family.....and that is just NOT my reality, nor is it easy or even possible to make that just happen....and I know many people are exactly the same as me in that respect.

All I got out of that documentary was that genetics determine how long we live.

Last week I was in the ER where a patient I was told across from me was 99. She had dementia and was screaming and crying. Another poor man was screeching at the top of his lungs that he needed cookies. I have no desire to live to be 100. None.

My Grandfather died at 98 and he didn't eat healthy. He was very slim. I think a lot of it has to do with our genes.

My mom had no illnesses but got cancer at 72 and died at 74.

Edit to add My Uncle, Grandfather's son was 92 and still able to do for himself except my cousins no longer allowed him to drive. Sadly he died of Covid19

ITA ... Dan Buettner from National Geographic, is the first person who coined the phrase "blue zones," He has written several books, and there is even a website to buy food and other merchandise. He is the featured author on the Netflix documentary. It reminds me of diet "experts" who write book after book about the same subject, with very little new information in each one. So many theories, so much money to be made.

Re: Live to 100 Netflix documentary

I don't want to live to 100 either. Once I can no longer take care of myself it's time to go bye bye. I'm not going in some home where they don't care for you. I've seen how that works. You get pumped up with so many drugs so you will stay in your bed. That's what killed my aunt when her son put her in home when she was almost 100. She had 2-3 falls. They pumped her up on so much stuff it killed her in about a month being there. She told my dad they were giving her too much stuff that she didn't feel good plus didn't need all the stuff they were giving her???
