This is the diagnosis that my mom received. Now comes the selling of products for the blind. She went to a meeting and was sold a 70.00 magnifying glass and they want to sell her a Daisy recorder that reads books. She doesn’t have a computer or internet and the only info I can find seems to state that you need that.Does anyone have any experience or advice on this equipement.

@dex. Stop!  There's another thread new today on services for the Blind.  Both my parents were legally blind so I'm very familiar with what's available.  I'll find it and be back.

There is no mention on that thread of this daisy recorder that my mom is talking about. She lives in Canada and I am in USA so I can’t be ther right now to help her choose. She is very low tec.She has never touched a computer or cell phone and I am concerned they will sell her stuff she can’t afford or use.

Do you have a Division for the Blind in your state or county.  My sister has been legally blind since college and that's where she goes for her vision assessments and then the counsellors their help her choose the assistive devices that she needs.  She has all types of things that make things easier for her.
