Labor Day came very fast as it always does.  I remember feeling sad when Labor Day arrived because summer was over and school was ahead!  I felt this way as a student and then as an employee in a school system!!!!!  However, now that I am retired, I just appreciate Fall and it is my favorite time of year.  I try not to wish time away as it goes so fast and I do try to live each day as it comes.  Happy Labor Day to all!!!!

So has school not started where you (and others) live?  Where I live school started Aug.13 and just figured it was that way most places but guess not.

The older I get, the faster the seasons go by. My daughter and both sons in law are teachers and there are the grands. Everyone went back to school last week so Labor Day didn't surprise me. I always think of September 1 as the beginning of my year. Weird but almost like magic, the weather gets cooler in mid August. That always surprises me. I'm looking forward to cooler weather and fall clothes. I really like seeing the QVC hosts and models in fall clothes and boots. Last week, I went through my jeans. Ironed them and hung them all up Tomorrow I'll go through all my sweaters. I bought a lot of clothes the last two years so I won't need any fall/winter clothes or boots. I'll pick up a couple of things I like but only on sale or clearance.

@Desertdi   Yup!  It sure is; HOWEVER, to me Labor Day marks the start of Fall when all the "snow birds" come flooding back to Phoenix/Scottsdale!

This year, I was particularly observant of the reduced traffic and how easy it was to get a parking spot at Costco. LOL

We still have at least another month of hot weather; however, as soon as that happens EVERYTHING accellerates with the rush of one Holiday after another after another!!

@pdlinda we are in FL and our snowbirds are starting to trickle back. We were joking the other night when eating out that it might be a while before we get to go out again. Just gets crazy with traffic. School started here mid-August.

@Seminole2   School started here 3 weeks ago!!

I know FL very well as my entire family (except me and my daughter and her family who are in CA) lives there so I visit FL often.

FL is AZ with "snow birds" but on a much larger scale.

Nope, no surprise.  Happy to see Labor Day weekend come.  The end of summer here in the NorthEast and welcoming of the cooler temps which I love. Kids head back to school on Tuesday.  Most of the tourists are gone. Happy to see them come and just as happy to see them go. It is quieter, no lines. We get our town back.

On to cooler weather.  Fires in the pit (once we get the official okie dokie from the Fire/Safety department that it is safe for outdoor fires to start. Very bad drought through out Maine still).  Sweater weather, hearty soups and stews with fresh baked breads.  Leaf raking,  sitting outside and just listening to the birds and crickets.  Autum is the best time of year.

Some schools in the Phoenix area started in July.

Sounds almost perfect to me @Mz iMac.  I'd prefer 65 for the daytime high tho.  Maybe it will warm up a bit so you can have your Indian Summer.
