Stormy out tonight. Turned out to be just rain. Dayton Ohio had a tornado so called my granddaughter.  Turned out she was in NC for a wedding. She said their camera didn’t show any damage. So that’s a good thing.

hey all

yock, those storms last night were douzy's. we got them at 8-9pm or so,we lost electrical power at 10pm didn't come back on till midnight.why this happened, was it from the storms??? or was it from the shotty workmanship from that company redoing the main road in my part of town (they are at the intersection of my road now).

have doc check at 2pm that is about all.later guys

I am just checking in to see what is going on in the nest today. Pretty quiet which is ok. I've had a busy day with GS and had the visiting nurse from our insurance company this afternoon. I am glad that is done for another year. I need a nap, but I try to refrain as I wouldn't sleep good tonight. Tomorrow is our "free" day. Our DD is off so we don't have to pick our GS from day camp. Weather is gorgeous right now, but next week it looks like it is going to get HOT. yuck.

Hello all, I am trying to enjoy the weather, sunny and/or rainy, because the temps have been so pleasant in the 70's.  I saw the local forecast this morning and all I could say was ewww.  It's gonna get in the upper 80's and low 90's next week.  We had some rain last night and it's been breezy and sunny today.

Even though I haven't seen G.G. (new groundhog) in the backyard since the beginning of May, my neighbor across the street told me that there is a groundhog who lives under the front porch.  I loaned the guy's wife my wheelbarrow while she was working on a landscaping project over Memorial Day weekend.  I was so pleased when he said that G.G. moves around the front yard and darts behind the shrub (covers entrance under porch) at least 5 days out of 7 really early in the morning.

I haven't seen the green parakeet in the back yard in the last couple of days.  It knows where the food and water is and I hope to see it again.

That's my excitement, lol.

Re: June 2022 Bird's Nest

[ Edited ]

My beloved Presto is 9 years old today.  I was not present when she hatched like I was when Peewee and Poppi hatched so June 10th is the best guestimate that I have.  My niece brought her to me on Friday June 14th and Presto's eyes were still closed on that day.  Sparrows usually open their eyes on the 5 days and Presto opened hers on Saturday June 15th, so I took a leap and assumed she was born on June 10, 2013.  I might have still been working with a flip phone then and my husbands Nikon camera was jacked up so it took a couple of days for B&H Photo in NYC to get my Cannon Powershot here.

This is Presto on June 18th, the day the camera arrived.

She had significant feather development by then.  This is Presto in March of this year.

I had a scare with her in February that I didn't even talk about much on the forums.  She was fine one day and the next it was like someone flipped a switch.  I felt like I was in purgatory for a week and had to  sincerely hand it over to St Francis.

Suffice it to say, she has been fine since and it is great to celebrate her 9th birthday.  There is one more milestone I want her to cross this month and when she does I'll talk about it.  For now, have some cake - it's one of Presto's favorites.
