Re: July 2023 Bird's Nest: Hot and Hazy

@possummink

I, too, am sorry to hear about your big trees.

We had similar damage from straight line winds here for a couple of weeks.  Many, many large old trees down with lots of power outages.  Very large hail and lots of damage to houses, outbuildings and cars.  Thankfully my place squeaked by with just small branches down.

I hope you have someone to help with cutting up those huge trees.  I know I can manage the smaller branches with my little chain saw, but something that large is way beyond my own abilities.  I had to wait for six months to get someone to haul a big cedar that went down during an ice storm last winter.  Thankfully, like your big trees it was out of the way.

Thankful you didn't have damage to your house. ❤️

Re: July 2023 Bird's Nest: Hot and Hazy

@possummink  Sorry to hear about your trees. I haven't seen lightning bugs in PA this year. I wish I would.

It's hot & muggy, so I've stayed in the house this week.

3 more house warranty workers came here this week. 1 worked on a board that had a small nick in it, & he's coming back to replace it. Another guy came to replace drain stoppers in the bathroom sinks but brought chrome ones. I don't have any chrome finishes (my finishes are on the builder's list), so he has to order new ones & come back in a couple weeks.

A 3rd guy came to change out a few tiles in my kitchen backsplash. The colors are slightly off, & he said they must have been made in different batches. The new tiles he brought look fine, but he didn't bring the right color of grout. So, he's coming back in a couple weeks too.

It makes you wonder how these people make it through any given day doesn't it @Desert Lily   The kicker is that the state licenses these folks to drive cars that can kill people.

mousiegirl--How lucky were those owlets that you found them before something sniffed out the hiding spot? I have never seen the babies with the two we have but the hubby did just one time. It sounds like you have a good wildlife rescue in your area. I didn't have a good experience with the one in our area with the raccoon stuck in our chimney. I have my fingers crossed that man has since retired.  Usually our rescues are deer or dogs. It's frightening on trying to find the home of a lost dog in our area. We found two last summer and we have 2 GSD's so I had the rescues in the garage with blankets, bowls and a kennel and kept ours in the lower level. It was a small miracle that we found the one shelter the original owner had called.

Re: July 2023 Bird's Nest: Hot and Hazy

hello all

Leeny, doc check was very good. saw miss rose PA to my GI doctor. she is super duper nice and she talked and worked with me,didn't give the eye and told me to take 2 aspirin and call me in 6 months type thing.

she put me on some New OLD MEDICATION . i was on this medication back in 2014, but was taken off of it, because the doctor thought i would get addicted to the med,so for 9 years i have gone from doctor to doctor and doctor trying to find help. she saw i am not a narcotic user ,she put me back on the medication can take up to 3 pills a day if needed but only take it WHEN I ABSOLUTELY need it. the medication was alaskan gold for me way back when, it does have a narcotic in the pill it is just a tiny dot of this narcotic so it has to be listed as a controled substance. she said this med is ancient comparred to everything out there now a day. i have my supply and will only use it when I absolutely need it. i have it if i need it.

finally got SS put in the new bank account,was sweating this. because we had to change our check acct number because of robbery in june. rent is due next week so was really sweating this major item.it takes SS 3 months to get new banking number on social security deposits, have 1 more month of worry hope by august SS should be an auto deposit with new glitches.

ok guys later.

Re: July 2023 Bird's Nest: Hot and Hazy

Today is my Grayson's 14th birthday.  I have to credit St. Brigid for bringing us together.  I came home from work 14 years ago to find a St. Brigid's cross on my kitchen table.  My sister had visited the Capuchin Monastery and picked the cross up for me.

I saw an injured bird in the backyard that was in bad shape.  It was limping, dragging its wing and running like he** from me when I approached it with a handful of seed.  I put St. Brigid's cross above the family room door, walked into the kitchen to grab a glass of water and then plopped on the family room sofa.  Just that quick the bird dragged itself across the yard and perched on the stoop outside of the door.  It took almost a week to find a local vet who would look at him and the rest is history.

I can't begin to express what a joy my life has been with Grayson.  We celebrate his birthday every July 8th and today is his 14th.  Have a cupcake and celebrate him with me.

@viva923

Happy to hear you got to see Miss Rose and that she prescribed you medication you know will help when you need it.

It's so frustrating that we have such a huge drug problem in this country, yet people that actually need certain drugs and use them appropriately can have a difficult time getting them.  When my little dog needed tranquilizers the vet could only give me a few at a time because they were a controlled substance.  Apparently people were taking animal tranquilizers! 🤦‍♀️

Also glad to hear your Social Security is getting straightened around in time for your rent payment.  What a hassle to have to deal with.  I hope the pickpocket gets punished for what he did to you! 😡
