My DGCs start back tomorrow!
DGD will be in 5th grade 👀‼️

DGS will be in 3rd grade‼️

Something exciting happened recently...

DGS has a favorite friend in his grade

and them amazingly  has a sister in the exact same grade as DGD!

The parents and children all met up together last Sunday!

Now the KIDZ are all primed and ready to go back!

@LTT1  That's really nice... my little GGS is painfully shy but we've been working hard to help him. He knows the postal lady, FedEx and UPS drivers, pool guy and of course trash truck (he loves to help me set up water/drink station due to the heat) and last week added some of his own snack bars. He still doesn't make it through Sunday School so it's finger crossed LOL.

In Arizona some kids go back in July and most are already back in school for at least 2 weeks. They get so many days off it's rare they even go a full 5 day week. They either get half day of full day Wednesdays off plus all the other days off they get.

@ Spacrazy wrote: How sweet!  I remember when you posted your experience with him during lockdown and always thought how wonderful you were able to spend this time with him. You remind me of when I was a young grandmother and spent every minute possible with my grands (until cell phones and driving came along). Now I have a 3 yo great, grandson starting pre K next week and I'm beyond excited for him. They built next door to me so I'll get to know every, little detail of his days. Didn't mean to go on so long but I've always enjoyed your posts and it's nice to be able to reply.

Thanks for your post and yes it was fun being with him through those days and during kindergarten when the teacher had the kids get up and exercise on zoom, I was off to the side doing the exercise as well Woman Very Happy I'm waiting for a call from him this evening to tell me how his first day went. He's also starting swimming lessons this weekend so he wants me to come watch so I plan to go.

@Spacrazy

What a darling story!

I read a book from a Child Psychologist named "Discipline for Life" by Madelyn Swift a long time ago.

She described how to help my child with making friends...and I guess maybe I did?

Butmy DGCs have had phases of shyness.

Right now, DD tells me that my DGD (starting 5th) was having a bout of nerves to start back to school (today). DGD always looks at ease around others from what ihave seen, but this was one reason I was so excited for both of them that they were able to get together as families last weekend.
Now both KIDZ have friends in their classes that they feel comfortable with. MIRACULOUS!

I would like to help them in their approaches with strangers, and I think maybe I have such as at the mall when we go there for lunch. I try to encourage them to order and speak, etc. Last trip we went to "Build-a-Bear" and they serve splitting the cost between them so they handled the entire transaction!

It is great to see this isn't it?

@LTT1 :   Oh gosh, my dear, it is such a great accomplishment and I'm sure you feel as blessed and excited as I am to be part of it.
