Paper boxes disintegrate in a compost heap. That might not work if you rent, tho(!)
Always "something"...I have RA and have trouble getting a tin can open...

I'm more concerned with the opposite--lack of adequate packaging. More of my purchases come mangled now that many times the product inside is damaged or if liquid, leaky.
I do keep my packing materials until I can get them to our recycling center and it does concern me about the amount of resources that can be used just for my purchases (not even considering what was used to get one item to me). That's just one reason I'm now trying buy as much as I can locally--or more importantly, just buying less in general.

there is definitely overkill in packaging.
my issue is when things are sent with packaging that cannot be recycled.
i abhor throwing plastic wasted in the trash especially syrofoam. that takes 100's of years to decompose if ever, then into the soil & water stream.
i am a 'posher' so i reuse a lot of the packaging to send my sales out.
we can do better, let's start with all the plastic in packaging!
UPS used to take 'peanuts', no more.
if u get un-recyclable packing, call the company and send back. i have done that!
we can do better!!

I had Lincoln points (that I didn't know about till recently) and chose to buy 3 new fragrance/scent cartiridges in some of the scents that didn't come with the car. See the three small white boxes on top of the larger boxes? ONE of those scent cartridges came in each box. They were all ordered at the same time, same address and goodness knows there was plenty of room in one mailing box. That's ridiculous!
@monicakm I agree that all 3 could have been packaged together.
If I order from some stores, items are "always" sent as they are received to the store. Nordstrom items come from various stores and of course have to be mailed back separately...same order in the same packages! That's also a pet peeve of mine. Why can't everything be returned in the same bag/box if it's all the same order?

@monicakm Yes, I am sick of it but "put out" might be a stretch. I receive a Tatcha serum stick on A/D from QVC, and it comes in a box the size shown in your photo. Similar has occured when they send me mascara or a lipgloss. But, in the past when I have ordered single LG baked products they sent it in one of those bubble wrap envelopes and the contents are almost always broken. Make it make sense, lol.

Amazon is the worse offender.

@monicakm I agree. I've had a pair of shoes sent in a box the size of a dishwasher. What a waste & what a pain to tear down. I also had dog toys sent in a box bigger than a dishwasher - I stopped ordering from that retailer because of that.

As for packaging, you win some and you lose some, but my one stipulation, were I able to make it, would be no more messy Styrofoam EVER. I really hate that stuff.
