Re: In the donut hole for 2017

I am covered under Medicare and have health insurance coverage that I took with me into retirement from my Federal job.

With all that, I now order meds from Candadrugs dot com.

Even without any insurance coverage, the cost of my drugs is less than 1/3 of what I would pay in the US WITH coverage.

I originally saw it mentioned on the Q board and checked into it.  They have super customer service and bend over backwards to help.

@Witchy Woman....I did check on DH's Eliquis but the price was quite high, but that was a year ago...I might check again.

edited:  I checked on line --the drug is a lot more than he is paying at the local pharmacy thru his drug insurance plan.

@Mom2Dogs

I hope you find it has gone down!

I even order the Lantus pens from them for my diabetic cat.

5 pens are around $175.

Those same pens are close to $400 in the US.

The good news is that the coverage gap is legislated to be ending I believe in 2021 or sooner. In other words, every year it is going to give you a bigger amount allowed of RX  expense to accumulate before you get into the hole. Eventually, the plan is to make it generous enough so that most--not all--Medicare subscribers will have sufficient coverage allowed as to have no gap.  The very sickest and RX dependent may not meet the generous allowance coming along the years forward, but most of us will.

fyi I counsel seniors on everything concerning medicare.

Since this problem is part of an existing law ie Medicare Part D, all complaints should be directed to your senators and congress reps. It will no good to complain to the insurance companies (other than question a claim)
