I am wanting to host for Easter this year but I am not very good at this. It will be family and about 6 kids under 6. Hoping the weather will be decent but it changes from day to day here. Ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Could you host a potluck? You do the meat dish in your oven and ask for sides?
I have a SIL who loves to make pies and a friend who does the best potato dishes. For us it works wonderfully.

When we did a big family gathering for Easter, it was a pot luck affair for the food. Host provided the main courses like the meat and a couple sides then we all brought the rest. You can deligate what you want them to bring too. As for kids--it was a big easter egg hunt outside --used plastic eggs filled with goodies, stickers coins. Every one brought a dozen or 2 eggs to contribute that they filled. And most times--it rained where I am-- in WA state--- but then everyone bought extra clothes for the littles. There was a few easy games for them too--nothing too hard--maybe pin the tail on the bunny---maybe have each family with kids provide an easy game to keep them busy. But start planning now!! Nothing last minute will do.

@isaboo Easter egg hunt for the children-indoor & out. Tell the parents to bring "rain or snow gear" for their children just in case. Children love playing in bad weather.
If you're lazy like me, have the food catered - buffet style. Let everyone serve & feed themselves.

For me, Easter is a morning holiday, so I'd go with a late Brunch.
Have a big ham, quiches or a breakfast-type casserole, pastry or muffins, a potato dish (funeral potatoes would be great), fresh fruit, etc.
And don't forget the flowers - hyacinth, lilies & tulips.
I hope it'll be a wonderful day!

If it is a dinner do something easy that will allow you to enjoy your company as well as host. Sometimes simplicity is just as good. For example, you could serve raviolis and make a nice big salad. Most of the children would probably eat that and it's fairly easy as you just need to boil the ravioli and heat sauce. You could add a baked ham from Costco or even just do ham sandwiches with potato salad on the side. Buy the plastic eggs from the do,lar store and fill with small candies fir the kids to find around your house on an Easter egg hunt. Ask your guests to bring dessert. Make some cookies for the kids or have ice cream in the house. Kids always like that. Buy fresh berries and you can serve them too after the meal. Make the time about just family being together and everyone will enjoy.

We always have a ham from the host and everyone brings a side dish of potatoes, salad, rolls, vegetable, dessert and always someone brings a new recipe they "just had to try". lol There are 26 of us.
Always an egg hunt outside if weather is okay. We have a great time and feel so Blessed!

LOL I was making those things for 30 years before I ever heard them called funeral potatoes.
LOL, @VanSleepy, me too! I got the recipe back when I was in my early 30s & was working in an elementary school. One of the teachers, a Mrs. Bailey, was an elderly woman who brought them in for a potluck, & I asked for the recipe.
Hence, our family always called them 'Mrs. Bailey's potatoes'.
@Mz iMac, traditionally they're baked w/ a buttery, cornflake or crushed Ritz cracker topping, but they can easily be made in a crockpot w/ no topping (as Mrs. Bailey did that day) which frees up the oven.
There are a ton of recipes online, all with similar ingredients: Frozen, diced hash brown potatoes, cream of chicken soup, cheddar cheese, sour cream and some type of onion: a bit of diced white onion or onion powder, etc. I use green onions.
