IPAD Email Password Compromised Message

This morning as soon as I came on the forum, there flashed a banner from my iPad saying my email address and password may have been compromised.  It went off the screen before I could finish reading it.

It has to be those I use for here because this is the only site I use a password.  I'm almost scared to log off now because I'm afraid I won't be able to get back on the forum.

The email address I use is one Apple made up and then forwards to my actual email address.  I don't know if QVC will accept another email from me.
Has anyone ever had this happen?

Don’t click on it.

It’s been my experience that those pop ups scares are a scam. They typically tell you to contact “xyz” for assistance. Don’t do it. If they can get you to call or contact them, they try to get personal info and money.

Do you use any kind of pop up blocker on your computer?

Do you have security software on you computer that you can run?

Thank you.  I checked my email and there wasn't any kind of message there.  I figured if this were the case, there would be.  I just panicked and thought I'd never be able to access the forum again lol.

As far as security, no I don't have any on my iPad, but it does automatically block popups.  However, I've never once had any problems with it before.  I literally don't go on any other social media or websites other than QVC.  If I'm unable to get back on here, I guess I'll have to call QVC or something.  Let's hope that's not the case.

You’re probably fine as long as you don’t bite and contact someone through the pop-up. That’s what they want you to do. I’ve never seen a legitimate security breach notification via pop up.

@cheriere likely legit notification but no worries. Here is more info...

ETA: People are going to reply to your thread who don't own an iPad and don't understand that it is not like an android tablet or windows computer. Stick to the Apple community for answers. (I have an iPad and a MacBook for reference.)

It’s always a good idea to periodically change your passwords.

Pretty sure you must have a password and/or email address for the WiFi, the Apple account and QVC.  Could refer to any of these.

If you like, any of these could be reset.  Might want to get your CC off QVC for a bit too.  Multiple email address are a good idea.

Or else it is just a scam which is unsettling.

@Ainhisg

Thank you so much. 💝🌸  I just took a screenshot so I can do this.  It said it was from my iCloud Keychain.  I couldn't remember what it was called.

The only other passwords on this chain are those I set up whenever I got the Free Software included.  I bought the iPad from QVC.  It could be one of those too.

@cheriere @Yes, follow @Ainhisg's post.  I'm getting a few of these messages on some websites I just make comments on.  I will probably go in and change them just to be safe.  But from what I've read the notifications from Apple may not mean your password linked to your email has been directly exposed, just that the password in general was seen.

Oh okay.  I was afraid they meant the email generated by Apple and then sent to my real one would have to be changed too.  That's what had me nervous because it's the email I use for QVC and the QVC forum.  I wondered how on earth I'd be able to recover my account on here.
