Re: I hate my car

@GoneButNotForgotten

I have not read every response so this may have been mentioned to you.  I have a 2018 Forester.  Our radio was wonky and I took it back to the dealer and they said they thought it needed to be re programmed.  They did That but it was still wonky.  I went right back and it started to do it wonky thing so the guy could see it.  He apologized for not getting it the first time.  He said it needed to be replaced.  They ordered the new one, installed it and it is fine now.  Did not cost a cent as it was under warranty

Be sure you have it checked at your dealer.

And I LOVE my Forester!

Toyota all the way.  And just so you know CD players are not part of any car these days.  Sad.

I have a 2012 Prius Hybrid and I hope I can keep it another 12 years.  My 2020 Rav 4 Hybrid is amazing.  Very good records for both gas mileage and reliablity.

I cannot recomend buying a Japanese car and sending our money overseas.  I buy American.  Chevy or Ford.

@wismiss @GoneButNotForgotten  I love my car, I bought it when it was only a few years old - it's my "in perfect condition" 2007 Mercedez and it looks almost brand new, with 65K original miles.  I plan on driving it until it drops.  It really is a "little old lady car who only drives it on Sunday" and even thought it's small and old, it's my baby.

It's gets its annual checkup and oil change at the dealer and I know they always are shocked (and probably frustrated) that I still haven't traded it in.  They want me to buy a new one...and offered to give me $1500 for it.  Hmmm, NO.

Same here.  I have a 2004 Hyundai SUV I love, even though I had to get the transmission rebuilt.  Every time I get the oil changed (I go to the dealer) they try to get me to trade in on a new one.   Nope!  Love my old gal.

I used to have a 2004 Hyunda SUV (one year when someone ran into the back and the back hatch had to be painted, guys lost the "i" before it went on the car at repair shop) - in 2015 I had to have the transmission rebuilt also and then someonein 2016 ran into the back so insurance totaled it but I kept it; but then in 2018 someone ran into me again and this time it was totaled (he hit me at 40 mph when I stopped for a red light).

Now I have a 2018 Toyota RAV4 XLE (wanted the sunroof), this one does have a CD player in it; in 2019 they redid the RAV4 so not sure if you can get a CD player in it or not.

There are quite a few foreign cars that are actually made her in the US so if you didn't buy them there would be people out of work.

Hyundai & Kia (Korean) but made in Alabama; Toyota made all over US; Honda made in several states; BMW made in SC.

What has the dealer said about your problem? Maybe it just needs an adjustment. We have had Subarus since 1989 and I wouldn't have any other car. Loved them all.

@geegerbee good to hear about Subarus- I'm a relative  'newbie'.  My first was a 2011 Forester, my son totaled it really bad, the front was an accordian. All he had was a small bone in his foot fractured (not even broken!). That sold me on the safety! I've since bought  2015 and 2018 Foresters.

I had a Plymouth Horizon that I bought from my grandfather in the 80's. I absolutely hated that car! Every time it rained or snowed, the car would stall and not run. Fortunately I found a good mechanic close to my work at the time, who discovered that moisture was leaking and damaging the spark plugs. I couldn't drive the car if it was wet outside...ridiculous.

I had a Plymouth Horizon back in the 80's too! It was what I could afford-Smiley Happy I don't remember having the same problem as you, but there were quirks for sure. Funny!

I drive a 4Runner.  I can see out of it, and can't get in here without it.

@SurferWife I have a HEMI, too! I drive a Dodge Ram 1500 truck and I absolutely love it! It has amazing power and it is extremely comfortable inside. I have a topper on the back, which is very convenient.

Cool!  I drive a Challenger RT.  She was built for speed!

I have a 2007 Subaru Forester that we purchased August 2006.  LOVE LOVE LOVE IT.  I hope I have it many many more years.  I start it with a KEY!   Can you imagine,  an actual KEY!  LOVE.  Also,  it doesn't have 1000 lights, screens, gadgets on it, AND ...   NO BLIND SPOTS (which is the BEST).  It's a peppy Forester.  Yes,  it doesn't have a rear view camera or some of the new safety features that most of the newer cars include or offer....  but it's still closer to that Forester styling and not the bigger generic look that they have offered in recent years.
