So there are several marathons coming up at the beach, and my daughter and 12 year old grandaughter are running the half marathon.  I had been talking about doing the shorter one and my daughter said jeeze mom just sign up before it's too late. So I signed up for the 8K (4.97 mi) and this is going to be a bit of a challenge for me.  Those of you who read my posts know I still run and have been for the past 50 years.  However, 5 miles is at the top of my limit because I typically run 3 miles about 3 times a week. I rarely push past that.  

I have been pushing it to 4 miles for the past 2 months because I have to be ready by November.   I've been running on a treadmill quite a bit, as it was just so exhausting to run in the heat.  So fingers crossed that my 69 year old legs HOLD OUT! 

I won't have a run partner so mama is solo...hubs used to run but now he walks so he said I will be at the finish line with a cold one for you 🍺😆.

If you'll be running on sand, five miles will feel more like 10.

@DSD2  Awww thank you for that!  I'm very grateful that I still can!

Who is amazing to ME is my daughter's regular run partner.  She's 74 and had a hip replacement - and still runs long distances!  Ortho told her if you feel good, go ahead and she sure did.

@occasionalrain NO no sand - this distance is along the boardwalk, down and back.

Such a wonderful blessing you are so strong. Looking forward to your finish line. You are amazing.  My calfs get shin splints just thinking about it.
