I'm SO glad you found her!  I can't imagine the worry and fear you felt for her.  Bless her heart being in unknown territory with no sight or sound.  What a miracle.

Way back in the late 90s or early 2000s, our deaf and blind dauchund trotted off the property and went about 300 yards down the road.  This isn't a busy county road, thank goodness, but it was still dangerous for her.  A farmer picked her up and brought her home.  He knew she couldn't see or hear.   She quickly learned the yard and immediate area, but this time went too far.

My son thought the same with Melanie, a bad tooth, but the Vet said no, she has a lot more problems.

Re: I Feel Like Howie Might Not Be Around Too Much Longer

My dog is a rescue and will be 14 this month. He still jumps on furniture and runs around the yard. He loves to go on walks.

At his last vet visit, he jumped up on the couch in the room and the vet looked at me and said "He's almost 14?!"  She was surpised.

Yes, my guy sleeps a little more during the day and he shows a few signs of aging but, so far, nothing is slowing him down.

The day after I thought he may be on his last leg, he was seen (slowly) galloping up to the house, and wrestling with Frankie.  He does sleep more.  We think he'll be 14 in April.

He's crotchety but still eating and drinking.

My daughter recently had to send her kitty to the rainbow bridge.  She found a vet that come to your home, my other daughter also found the same service (different towns) they were both in CA but one in San Diego and one in Northern CA.

I think that service is getting more common and affordable.

She is still broken up about it, her kitty was her baby she doesn't have children.

Good evening monicakm. Sorry to hear your fur baby isn't feeling well. Hopefully he will feel better. Our morkie little dog coco is just over 14 years old and so far she's doing well.  They bring us so much love and affection but they do break our hearts when its there time. Sending you prayers and well wishes for all of you and your fur baby. Have a great holiday season.

Thank you @Pooky1

He has definitely changed in attitude and physically but still eating.  A part of my heart will follow him when it's his time.  We are soulmates.  We've been thru so much together.  I don't know his life before us but there's plenty reasons to believe none of it was good.
