No, newspapers and tv news are not social media.  Definition from Lexicon (Oxford)

@shoesnbags  Newpapers and TV news channels are all on Facebook. You can find out what they report by watching them on TV, reading their newspapers or looking at their Facebook accounts.

I have 2 kids who won’t allow me to ever feel old as dirt. LOL. They want a current mom and that means using social media and learning new things.

As as far as cell phones both my kids have careers that necessitate 24/7 access. If we are in a restaurant their phones are on vibrate and they leave the room to take the call. It’s their livelihood and speaks to their work ethic.

This 66 year old thinks it is a new world and wants to be a part of it rather than rallying against it and finding fault with it. My kids like that about me...

I am self-taught on the computer, having mastered those things that I needed for work. Now that I’m retired, I have chosen not to be engaged in social media. I joined Facebook for one day and received so much crapola that I unjoined myself. My daughter kept telling me how secure it was, while posting pictures of my grandchildren. It made me nuts and, sure enough, my daughter’s feelings of security were ill-founded.

I am on FB, but only have a few "friends", mostly relatives. Most of them are kooks IMO. Some post messages to dead loved ones. I find that very strange and creepy. I am seriously thinking about closing my FB account.

@catwhisperer

That creeps me out too.  I’ve asked my nieces to delete it and they won’t. I stay away from it.  My beloved sister is gone eight years now. Enough.

I text, of course. I can tweet, but usually don’t. I closed Facebook acct because of security issues and don’t do any social media. I don’t think anyone is interested in the kinds of posts that most people put out there—boring pics, incl photos of what one is having for dinner, selfies, etc. I am not that interesting, folks, and I know it. The few people we are truly close to get calls, emails, texts from us (and we from them). The various internet clouds must be overloaded with junk. Yikes.

@Shanus  You are a hoot!   I still use a flip phone and get teased about it on a regular basis.  I truly do not care as it suits my needs.  I too do not do instagram, facebook, periscope or any other social network, only the q forum where I enjoy the company of you all.

@Boomernichols   Periscope? That’s a new one on me. Let me add that to my list. Never even heard of it.
