Don't be so hard on yourself!  I did the exact same thing a while back but luckily I had to go into the kitchen and get something and saw it there so I was able to refreeze it before it totally melted.  We all make mistakes.

Definately NOT "brainless"....

Women are multi-taskers.    Who else can place an order with the Q with your right hand on the computer.....while ordering groceries with the  phone in your left hand.....AT THE SAME TIME  ??????

@rms1954   You sound normal to me.  We all do stuff like this on occasion.  It gives us something to talk about.

I have left groceries in my trunk overnight in error.  Once, chicken breasts must have fallen out of the bag and I didn't know.  They were left in the car overnight in the dead of summer.

The next day, I went out to my car during lunch time while at work and the smell hit me as soon as I got close to my car.  I found and removed the chicken and threw the package out in the outside trash at work.

My car stunk for days.. This wasn't the only time.  I drive a mini van and keep the third row seats down for a large cargo area, so it's easy to miss something. I keep the area covered with a large old quilt.

Don't beat yourself up about it.

I like the way you think!

Re: I Am So Brainless

[ Edited ]

I used to own an ice cream shop. People would come in and buy quarts of ice cream and forget and leave the ice cream in their car. They would then ask me to replace the melted ice cream! Of course I couldn't but did have empathy for their disappointment at their mistake.
Also, it is true that melted ice cream should not be refrozen. Eat at your own risk. Interestingly, ice cream is made by incorporating air to suspend the butterfat, water, sugar, and other ingredients. Air is not a "filler".  It is an important part of the process and helps to give the ice cream it's texture. Take out the air and you just have runny butterfat and sugar in a milky mix.

@Tinkrbl44  If ice cream completely melts you should not refreeze. Bacteria will quickly grow in room temperature ice cream

So the real question was, from the time she got home, how many hours before she put it away?  If it were only a couple of hours, she could feel the container and see if it was room temperature, or still "chilly".

Or some other word meaning not room temperature, yet.  LOL.  Woman LOL

It was an oversight.  Disappointed or frustrated maybe, but that doesn't make you brainless or a loser. I've done far worse. At least it was only a quart.
