Yes, those two drugs are very pricey. I don't remember the exact price with Humana but it was still pricey. I think one refill of each would meet the deductible of $600. Oh wait, no it wouldn't. I think the deductible is $600 for each??

This is the first time with part D and we are signed up as of last night. The two that we get assistance on are NOT on the plan as of yet. Medicare agent said to call the manufacturer to see how their assistance would be affected. I do not understand this penalty they stick you with for not using the plans when we first got Medicare.

We have always gotten all BP meds free of cost. I also give her any meds I might have to take, likeRA meds. We Lao give her preferred pharmacy. Although we can go to,can't pharm we want. An agent is free of charge to us. The company gives the agent a small kick back for each new medical/ rx plan you choose. This year the companies anot giving kickbacks to agents if we choose to stay with same RX plan. So they might be more motivated to find new plans. My agent did tell me the one I had was best plan. It's all gone up, but to be expected. Instead of rewarding me for getting a year older, they charge me. lol
@shoekitty No kickbacks this year regardless of whether it's a new plan, you stay with a plan, or change plans. Wellcare was the one that started that last year and even didn't pay the brokers what they owed them the year before. It's one reason I didn't even consider Wellcare. Now, the brokers also can't call on your behalf if you have a dispute either.

No, we are not on an Advantage Plan. When we first signed up for Medicare, many here advised against it and I listened. When I called Medicare last night, I had the option of two providers for my zip code. After getting all my information, asking questions and getting my med list, this was the best deal, according to her. Now the "mixed up" part, you got right lol. Man, she talked so fast. I know she meant well and was very patient with me. One thing I need to check on is the deductible. Is it $600 for both of us combined or $600 for each of us? I'm guessing each of us.

The penalty is not for not using the plans. The penalty is for not signing up for a Part D (prescription) plan during the original open enrollment period when one turns 65. They don't care if you actually use the plans or not.

@Icegoddess That really ire's me. Another power take over of the insurance industry. I hate this new idea of moving all power to the corporations, and big pharma. They already have taken away drs rights to dispense drugs as they see, fit. They mark the prices, tell us how many we can have and for how long. I don't get it.

@monicakm @Icegoddess the penalty is real! Enter my mom,the woman who never took a drug in her life... and would never need medication, lol! I'm laughing, but true story. She really didn't, until she was 90. And she was paying 700 for eye drops for glaucoma and wondered why. It was awful. Finally when she was 96, the insurance gave her a plan. Until then, she was denied coverage, and she was charged 200@mo off SS , until then. We had to buy patches at 250@ mo amd other things, amounting to hundreds of dollars. Luckily she had the money, but what a waste!! She never consulted with any of us before she made this decision either.

What about adding or removing drugs? If I go to the Dr and he prescribes an antibiotic, do I pay and then file for Humana to reimburse me?
Yes, the premium includes the penalty.
