Among Friends

We are taking ballroom dance classes. We were initially invited by friends and over the last 4 months we made new ones. We travel 180 miles round trip in the evening weekly to be there and the reason we do this is to enhance our skills. Bottom line we got an email not to show up since we are not of the caliber as the rest and are holding everyone back in their endeavor to learn and be successful. We try very hard and do our best. We see ourselves as striving and improving and quite frankly equal to the others. We never expected for this to happen with less than 3 months to go. It is not a competition so I thought, but a class. I answered the email and gave suggestions on how we could continue and get extra help but with no response. I guess this is my version of venting since I am truly hurt and was depressed until I got my ice cream. LOL. We are resigned to just go somewhere else but the disappointment at the behavior of others is beyond my understanding.

And, you are paying for classes from them?

@bonnielu  Who sent you the email uninviting you to the dance lessons.Was it your friends? The person running the program? Etc. Are you paying for these lessons? Did you sign a contract? What does it say?

I hope you find a group closer to home and with a better intention. I think you should get a refund larger than three months’ worth.

Is there a competition the class is preparing for?

That is extremely offensive.  I wouldn't want to 

be in a class like that.  Get yourself another ice cream.

I would pretend I never got the email, show up and speak to her --   but ONLY to ask for a refund for remaining lessons (and more if you can get it).  I would not even want an apology from this type of person.

That’s so unprofessional for an instructor to behave in this way. Smh  I wonder if this person has psych problems? Bipolar?  Just curious but if this instructor has a business teaching dance, are there any reviews online indicating this type of treatment toward other students?

I’m the type if I want something bad enough, I’d keep taking lessons with a different instructor and prove that meanie wrong. 

If you enjoy this activity definitely don’t give it up. But not sure if I’d want to continue paying for lessons from this person after the way you were treated.
