Re: How long do you keep your old, read emails?

i no longer work, so only personal emails are the basis of my response.  I delete some each day, review kept emails about once a month and delete as necessary, and have begun keeping the last two or so emails from each person.  It must be my age, but email buddies and friends have begun dying-- often suddenly.  It is comforting to me to be able to " hear" these folks' writing voices after they are gone.

it all depends who it is from and the subject matter.  some i delete immediately, some i hold on to for a couple weeks and then delete.  very few do i save.  i do have a folder for the ones that i keep.

I only keep emails that have pictures attached with them. and for a short period of time. Otherwise they all go. I like my in and out box nice and clean. I don't now why people do not clean out there emails and keep old emails does not make any sense to me.

Re: How long do you keep your old, read emails?

My read emails automatically go into my "archive.pst" file, which is huge.  I have been writing emails since the mid-nineties and they're all in there, more than 20 years of them.  I look at it as my diary.  It would probably take me the rest of my life to read them all.
