@Sooner

Wow.  Please calm down.

In the overall scheme of the universe ...  sheets on ... or sheets off ... in the end, it's really not that big a deal.

If the host has such very strong feelings about the subject, they should speak up.

I'm done with this nonsense.  Please go argue with someone else.

The only guests that stay at our home are our kids and grandkids. All others are given addresses of nearby hotels.

We also have a three day rule. They don't have to go home, but they can't stay here.

Really?  My grandkids can stay as long as they want!

@Big Joanie   I feel the same ,  don't like either,  with the exceptions .

Other than staying at my parent's or grandparent's house, I prefer a hotel.

It's stressful trying to be a proper guest when not knowing what that is dependending on the host. We just make reservations prior to a visit and check in before stopping at the host's home. That eliminates preasure to stay with them.

@occasionalrain   I feel it's the way to go for the reasons you stated.  We do the same !   And when quests come to visit we put them up in a nearby hotel , and pay for it.  We  spend the whole day together and at the end  of the day we go to our house they retire to there hotel room and everyone has there own space.  Works out great for us .   Only exception is my parents who live in nearby town and when visting and it gets late we have  them stay over

@Tinkrbl44 I do have strong feelings about people that do what they want and never ask others.  My life is not yours, my experiences not yours.  People who do what they want are difficult to live with.  People who refuse to ask, consult or consider others.  My life experiences.

The worst guests are those who mean well, insist on helping without asking first.

They add seasoning, put delicate China in the dishwasher...

I agree, just ask your host what they would prefer you to do!  You are staying in their home I thing you would know them well enough.

We live on the Bay so we are the ones that have the house guests....mostly my kids and grandkids.

We look forward to having them here for periods of the time mostly in the Summer....Holidays throughout the year.

We stock up on their favorite foods and plan trips we know they are interested in.

They swim all day, ride their bikes, play games, and go fishing with their grandfather.

We would not want to give this up for the world..they are young for such a short period of time.

My guests usually ask if I want the sheets off or on.

Toothpaste in the sink is so trivial to us as we have health issues and more to deal with.

I just want them to enjoy themselves and we want to enjoy them.

Being Healthy and Happy is most important to us.

Nothing lasts forever...enjoy it while it lasts.
