@chrystaltree, I'm not "fighting" him and I have not given up on my job. I feel he's "fighting" with me!
I honestly do not have the answer to what he wants and have told him. I feel he should accept that.
I do not have the knowledge or expertise and it's out of my scope. He should accept that move on and find someone that is qualified in the organization to help him.

Is what he is asking you within your job parameters? If not, you have every right to refuse. This is what is being called quiet quitting. It's not allowing your employer to add on job responsibilities or work required after agreed upon hours without compensation and your agreement to the changes. If you have no knowlege of what is being asked of you, you have every right to refuse.

Can you delegate the task to someone else, just as she/he delegated to you?
I know there are some things you just don't want to or can't do, no matter what. It can be a mental block as much as anything. If that's the case, maybe you can retire eight months early. ![]()

He's the boss and you are the subordinate. He doesn't take orders from you Or let pick and choose what YOU want to do. SPEAK with him not AT him. Let him explain the project and then show him that you are can't do it, don't want to do it and won't even try. You said yourself you are leaving in 8 months thst you just slide by until then.

I would do it and not fight it or stress about it - just do it. You could learn something. I don't agree with people who think "Oh, that isn't in my job description." If it is (within reason) within the scope of your job, do it. That's how we contribute and learn.

If you do decide to prepare something for his review (lots of suggestions in previous posts), is there someone you can talk to who might have some knowledge of the issues? Maybe pick that person's brains. Would a Google search give you any ideas?

It's to write a legal document related to reimbursement of claims that can possibly exceed over 1 million dollars. I'm sorry, but this FAR exceeds my job description, my knowledge and expertise. Thanks for your suggestions. As for those that suggested retirement, nope I'm not lucky enough to be able to retire early - congratulations, to those that can. I'll let him know I wish I could help, but I just don't have the knowledge needed to assist with the problem.

@BunSnoop Is your supervisor an attorney?
You are absolutely correct that what he is requesting you to do is RIDICULOUS and, if he's not an attorney, he should have immediately referred the request to the company's legal dept. What he's requesting needs to be done by an attorney or a paralegal to be reviewed by an attorney.
It would be a complete waste of everyone's time and effort for you to draft a document like that without legal training and experience.
