@AnikaBrodie Your post is now here. It is good to get an update on Ed. It sounds like he is making progress. I hope November 12 they can tell you more and give you an anticipated discharge date. I am glad he had a good birthday. Much love and many hugs coming your way.

@Tissyanne, 90 Degrees just isn't going to do. I'll ask Mother Nature to send you a blast of lovely Fall air. Does your area stay hot for a long time? My area does but we are getting some early cooler weather. It's usually toward the end of November when it gets cold here. Hugs!

Dear @lynnie61, I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. I was hoping for much improvement. It's so loving of you to stay as near to your Father as you can. I'm sure his sadness runs deep. Good morning friends. It's me, Patricia. It's been a while since I've updated you on Ed's rehab services. He is still in rehab and we just received a letter regarding a meeting with his care team to be held Wednesday, November 12. We assume we will receive information on his progress to date and hope they will give us a pending date for discharge! Hoping.....

Ed is making slow but steady progress. To date he has had rehab for eight days, some morning and afternoon sessions, some only one time per day. Upper body rehab is pretty good. However, lower body is difficult considering his neuropathy and a recent compression fracture in the lower spine with intense pain. Still, he is motivated and tries his best and never refuses what they ask of him.

Yesterday when I visited he was cheerful and upbeat after his treatment session. (Some days are not that good, and his pain is very obvious.) Mid-afternoon I went home for several hours and returned in early evening. Therapy dogs visited last evening and he really enjoyed them. It brought back memories of our own therapy dog visits over many years.

I visit several times every day .... morning and/or afternoon treatment sessions, lunch, supper, in his room and all around the complex. Thankfully, he has his Jazzy wheelchair, and can go anywhere he wishes during his free time.

Ed is not allowed to transfer independently from bed to wheelchair or to stand independently. He is a fall risk and requires at least one and sometimes two people to help him. He is allowed to reposition himself in bed by pulling himself up or in laying down, or moving side to side.

Right now I'm doing laundry and plan to visit before lunch and into the mid-afternoon today. Hoping he has another exceptionable day ... just like yesterday!

Thank you all for the birthday greetings. I told him about your posts. Despite everything he had an enjoyable birthday celebration with cake, balloons, visits and many beautiful birthday cards.

Hello you wonderful @AnikaBrodie and Ed! It's good to read your Ed update. Please don't hug too hard but please deliver a "Good Job" Hug to Ed from all of us! Dear @1Snickers, I've been trying to gather the right words hearing about the loss of two loving dog companions. Pray for the precious doggie companions and their Humans then scoop up little Snickers and let her help you feel better. I'm sending you some comforting Hugs and Lots of Love too! And plenty of Love and Hugs for Snickers too!

Dear Friends, This picture reminds my of my Nephew Charlie. His family has a Chihuahua and no one can get near "Lucy" except Charlie. A lot of dynomite in that little package!
