@ sharke  I am wondering what the weather is like in Amarillo. You are about two and a half hours north of me, but we broke  a record today set in 1944. 109 degrees today. It really is unbearable!! Tomorrow is a cool down for two days, then low 90' s. No humidity. I can't imagine heat and humidity. I don't want to wish away the days, but I look forward to October.

@texassunflower.  It got up to 111° in Roswell, NM today.  The Weather Channel yesterday predicted 115° for my old stomping grounds in Midland, Tx, which is why I no longer live there.  The summer of '93 it got up to 120° there.  It's  a nice place to live but just too hot.

@Kachina624  I didn't realize you once lived in West Texas. I had a roommate once that was from Odessa. My sister travels often to Midland and she is always complaining about the traffic. It is about the same size as where I live but I think there's a lot of construction. I have been to the balloon festival several times and it is beautiful to watch. We have a mini balloon festival at our local lake.

@texassunflower.  I also lived in Houston over 30 years.  Where do you live?

Right now at 11:12 pm it's 59 degrees in southeastern PA.  Windows are open and it's rather chilly.  Will go up to 80 tomorrow.  I can't imagine living somewhere where the temps are above 100 over a long period of time.

@Kachina624  Home of the Red Raiders. I live in Lubbock, born and raised here. I got a teaching job a year out of college and never left. I taught for 30 years and took early retirement to care for my mother. She passed away last summer. My family is extremely small. My only family is a brother and sister and they both live here. I complain about the heat, like everyone else, but I am not leaving. Winters are very mild for which I am grateful.

@texassunflower.  Until s years ago, my two grandsons lived in Lubbock.  Now one is in college in San Marcos and the other is in the Navy.  I bought a car at the Saturn dealer in Lubbock and used to go there regularily to get it servced while I shopped at the mall.  Many more stores than the Midland Mall.  I retired and moved to the Albuquerque to help my parents who were legally blind.  I've been here 20 years now and they sre both gone so I'm here alone.  My sister in Pa. Is my only relative.  We seem to have a lot in common.  Good talking to you.

@Kachina624  It's funny that you should mention a Saturn. I bought a brand new red two door Saturn in 1997. I loved that car!!! I kept it for thirteen years. My sister' s engine caught fire and I gave her my Saturn and purchased a used Ford Fusion in 2010. My sister is still driving the Saturn and I still have my Ford Fusion. The Saturn is 22 years old. My mother always struggled to make ends meet. I was taught from an early age,  you drive a car until the wheels fall off. The South Plains Mall is still going strong. We do seem to have alot in common. I know you and Sharke often converse and I will look for your posts.

@haddon9  In West Texas, there's almost no humidity. It just feels like a furnace blast. May and June are warm. July and August are miserable!!! September has cool mornings usually and hot afternoons and it cools off at night. We trade miserable summers for almost no winter. It gets cold but little snow and ice. If it snows, it usually is gone in two days.

@texassunflower.  I'm on my second Saturn, a 2003 Vue.  Still going strong with only 54,000 miles on it.
