My close friends in high school (& some from junior high and grade school) I am still friends with. Some of them for over 65 years. I don't need to go to any kind of a reunion to see people I didn't like then (or they didn't like me) and probably still wouldn't give a c**p about.

I go to a LOT of HS reunions..just not my own ( I don't think, anyway!!)
....I wait til the mid to end of Junes, then wander into the various local larger hotels and if they're having a reunion, wander in and say "I'm so and so...don't you remember me?...I got sick in senior year and missed a lot of school......"
A lot of times they have the old yearbooks at the entrance....look around, try to see if someone in the yearbook looks like they're there, then say you're someone else.
Or make something up. Say you were in prison...for impersonation or theft of service!!!
No one knows ALL the people who were in thier class forty fifty years ago anyway!!!
And no one will be rude enough to call you out!!!
Free cocktails and lunch!!!
And if someone catches on, o well, just walk out!!! Say "O I thought it was MY reunion from this school!!!!"
Just wait til everyone is drunk. They won't know you, care, or may even say "What a great idea!! This party is horrible...maybe next year I'll do what you're doing!! Have another one on me!!!!"
It works!!! Try it!!
Also...if you live in a large enough town, you can do the same for Corporate luncheon meetings in hotels...no one looks or cares.
And if they have a buffet, by the time anyone may notice, you're on your way down the hall to the next one!!! They're all too busy trying to select something for themselves from the buffet!!!!

I didn't even consider going to our 50th reunion. I have no interest in seeing my former classmates as I don't even remember who they were. Quite a few years ago I had a reunion of sorts with my former best friend. I immediately concluded we no longer had anything in common. We haven't stayed in touch.

Great topic. Graduated from a large high school (senior class was nearly 700 and during the 70's other classes grew to over 1000). My class started with a 5 year reunion and then did one every 5 years afterwards. I went to 5th, 10th and 20th. None after that. I still have a connection to the town, retired as a teacher from the same school I went to, but don't really keep in touch with anyone from that time. Life moved on and when I have gotten together with some of my old friends, we really had nothing in common anymore. Don't get me wrong, they're all nice people, but we have lived different lives. Sadly, some of my favorite people from that time have passed away.
On a happier note, about six or seven years ago, I got in touch with someone I went to elementary school (in a different town than where I went to HS). We were always in trouble when we were young. Anyway, we met up and it was as if time had stood still and we were 12 again. We didn't miss a beat and have stayed in contact ever since. She was in town the other day for a family party and we were able to meet for dinner. She said I always had the ideas to get us in trouble, but she put them into motion. I laughed and laughed at that because it was so true. By today's standards, we were really good kids but we did some silly, daring things that did get us in hot water with our parents.

Have attended a couple of class reunions .
Always a fun time to laugh abt all those high school shennigans and some of those wacky teachers we had .
Interesting to talk with everyone and hear of what they've done with their lives and see their family pictures.

Went to my 20th HS reunion. our class was small, 100 kids. it was absolutely magical. we had a cocktail party the first night and a dinner cruise the next night followed by karaoke at a bar.
so many of us had careers in what was then called hi-tech. i was single at the time...and my first boyfriend (8th grade!) was there, single as well. we talked until dawn and walked on the beach. two months later he flew me out to San Francisco and we drove up to Tahoe. good good times. demanding lifestyles though. we still keep in touch.

I went to my 5, 10 and 40 reunions and had a blast. My school was 100 so pretty small.
I was in the popular group but had many friends outside the circle. That never mattered to me.
I missed my 50th darn it but would have loved to go.
Have fun!

I can't imagine NOT going to a class reunion. I can sincerely say I love all of the people I graduated with....I feel a deep affection for them and I think most of them feel the same way. We all love each other. I didn't really realize how special that is until I started reading so many if the posts here. I'm very lucky!
