@Desertdi  @Kachina624   Doc said no driving until Monday, no lifting anything over 10 lbs. for 2 weeks, don't bend head lower than chest, etc. 

When we got home (I DID find the hospital BTW), I had to take his sneakers and pants off...oooooh!...and put him in the bed. He was knocked out and still very sleepy.

Post Op appt. early tomorrow with more instructions from his doc.

Sounds like his was a bit more complicated than most I've known about.

Next time (August), be sure to have everything on hand that you need so you don't have to do the driving except to his follow up.

It's no biggie to me to be the driver.  I love to drive and when we're headed out somewhere, be it 2 miles or 200 miles, I automatically get in the driver's seat.

I hope he has a comfortable night.

@Shanus   When I had my right eye done, I drove to my post op appointment the next day, then I drove myself to work.  

I had my left eye done last August.  I came home and got right on my iPad with no issues.  I drove myself to my post op visit the next day.

I just couldn't drive until the next day after surgery because of  anesthesia....the same with a Colonscopy.

My Husband just had both of his eyes done two weeks apart in May.  He drove the next day too.

No lifting anything heavy though.

I never heard of not driving until days after cataract surgery.  Everyone I know was able to drive the next day.

@Shanus. YOUR doctor is very conservative.  Those were the instructions given to my mother over 25 years ago.  None of that was in the instructions I was given.

I had both eyes, several weeks apart done 2 years ago.

Both times, they walked me out to DH's car; I wasn't to drive that day or to the next day's follow up.

I wasn't to have my head really low or wear eye makeup and use antibiotic drops.

Yes, I had similar "instructions".     And I had BOTH done within one week.   (Still shaking my head about that.)     

I came home from the outpatient surgery center ABSOLUTLY EXHAUSTED.     And a little disoriented from seeing out of only one eye at a time.    My depth of field was "off".....and I was spilling food and drink all over the place, walked into a door jamb, and was scared witless about getting in the shower(!)    I was also sleeping a lot longer than usual.

I have been driving.....only short distances to local stores.     It is getting better by the day.     BUT, this is NOT an "instant recovery" like some folks have told me to expect.      di

@Lucky Charm   Thanks, he slept well last night. He drove to the procedure, but had to have a designated driver (me) bring him home. We also stopped at the drugstore that the doc called in drops and DH waited in the car...left on w/ A/C.

I, too, drove myself to the follow up appointment the morning after my cataract surgery. 

As soon as I got home and took the patch off, I was ready to go on about my life. Not the least big groggy or sleepy as my opthamologist doesn't administer sedatives for cataract surgery. It's a 15-20 minute procedure. 

No restrictions at all, other than it beng suggested that I not play golf for a few days.
